Indeed, and it was clearly explained. I had a tour on the little jet and it was a treat to fly; but then I never flew it with such a load, so my assaults on the limiters never got me into trouble.

Seriously- reminds me of "unload for control" a similar but longer film we had to watch in F4 days.

That was how you recovered from the out-of-control situation with the F16. However, because the flight control system is constantly trying to unload, but failing because of the shielding by the mainplane, you have to pitch up first using Manual Pitch Override, then pitch down; you repeat this, trying to rock the aircraft out of the mode. It works pretty well, I understand.
