Australian Army Aviation Corps - A discussion of contemporary, not historical issues
Any idea where the aforementioned thread has disappeared to? It was here just a few hours ago.
Budget cut-backs? Defence Reform Program?

Methinks the hierarchy don't like hearing the truth. Best to bury it, and their heads, in the sand...
Wild guess ... original poster was warned by others that things he wrote might possibly come back to bite him, so I'd say he's prudently deleted the thread.
Might be best for him to communicate by PM in this case.

I doubt it's anything sinister.
No doubt 9BIT's warning about a recent lateral transferee's application being reviewed following an unfortunate Facebook post scared Flemister60. He probably deleted his thread.
It's a pity because I thought there were some reasonable points being brought out by junior and senior pilots alike.

The original poster would be far too easily identified. I was surprised the thread lasted as long as it did, for I'm sure he received more than a few private messages telling him that by posting his questions here, he was raising his head above a very dangerous parapet.
Even without drawing attention to himself as he's now done, the poor bugger was already in for some very unpleasant surprises when he learned, after donning the Oz green, that the "not invented here" rule was actually invented here in Australia. Now that he's a "known troublemaker" (as some of the shellbacks with empires to protect will now doubtless see him), he's really going to find himself marching at double time against a succession of very solid double brick walls.

I'm not sure that comment is fair or warranted. Flem only asked genuine questions in relation to his future role and the structure of his new workplace. Whatever opinion you have about AAAvn, warranted or not, to tell Flem that he is a marked man for asking these innocent questions is grossly unfair and not accurate.

I agree with CW Pirate.
As I understand it, the only people who can delete the thread are the mods and the person who created it.
F60 has nothing to worry about, and neither does anyone else who posted replies to his questions. Contrary to popular belief, use of social media by ADF members is permitted, as long as some common sense guidelines are met (no breach of OPSEC, no comments likely to bring discredit etc).
I hope Andu and Joe F have their tinfoil hats handy.

Recently heard that the separation rate is returning to 'normal'. It will be interesting to see if it returns to very high levels if/when Bristow start recruiting again next year.

Whether the comments made are true, this guy who is going to move half way round the world deserves a better understanding than he is getting.
What I read shows that we are getting an above average pilot, who appears to have the ability to grow more and would be a great asset to the youger tropps who will be coming through.
I served with RAAF and was exposed to USAF pilots and navigators who where top notch operators. All air crew positions benefited of their background and experience. Experience not being something you can get out a training manual.
We should be encouraging good operators to join us and I for one will be glad to see men if his standard join us.
I hope Sir that you enjoy your time here my only regret that it took so long for the system to be changed so you could.
Your and your lady I am sure to be made most welcome here.
I wish you all the best.
Regards
Col

How bad can it be? The guy's now living in Australia after all. If he follows the advice that was given on this board about transfers and what behaviour is OK and what is classed as a pommy whinger, he will be fine. Put this one down to a slip and move on.
