As an engineer I only worked on the Tomb for the last two years of its service life with the RAF (wish it had been longer, I loved the thing). I can't remember the details of what I'm about to say but hopefully someone can.

There was an incident at Leuchars I think, but it may have happened elsewhere, involving a severe case of aileron runaway. Now if my memory serves me well, this made the aircraft pretty unflyable to the point ejection was considered. In this particular case the pilot landed it safely, rather heroically from what I recall.
Can anyone who flew the Phantom elaborate on this condition? For old times sake I'd like to know more about it.

thing

I recall a picture taken by one of our guys of H**** D* C****** beating up the Belize runway
I am shocked, surprised and disappointed to read your comment about an illegal and absolutely inappropriate disregard of flying discipline and personal professional standards. Fortunately, you disguised the name of the culprit so well that no-one could possibly decipher who he was. If you have the photo, perhaps you would publish it, and then we might be able to work out who it was from the aircraft serial number and date/time.

I hope he feels suitably ashamed that his misdemeanor is now in the public domain!

Hopefully, the missing letter is an "s", not a "t".
