That's because it can't carry anything. Every advert I see for it says it can carry ten tonnes. That's paltry copmpared to an ordinary scheduled passenger aeroplane and even more so for a dedicated freighter.

Wow, I was reporting on the Airlander 50 in 2012. At that time they were touting the Airlander 200 also, though it seems neither have ever really gone anywhere.

They should get really innovative and go for maximum lift = pure vacuum..... An interesting airship was the U.S. metal clad ZMC-2 of 1929, the hull was rigid and made of alclad aluminum, which was developed by Alcoa especially for the airship. The hull material was .0095" thick.

That was my allusion a few posts above. If it's electric, and if it's able to carry 50 tons, and if it's able to carry batteries, and if it's huge and round, then surely we have found an ideal vehicle for green hydrogen tanks for FCEV power at last!
