I am going to stupidly risk the grief and select just after 9. You said that he calculated it takes 4 minutes which means that other factors are not needed such as speed because it has already been calculated.

Calculates it will take 4 minutes to the next waypoint.
What time will he arrive?

Cautionary tale:
A friend of my middle daughter wants to fly in the Services. I saw him the other day wearing a fine pair of bins - and had to ask him how he was going to deal with the eyesight standards. His mum thought he could have laser correction and that all would be well. The standards do not allow surgery
The same daughter also wishes to fly in uniform, so since she's under 18 we booked her a free eye test at the opticians, and sent her in with the full specs (intentional pun), posted below . The optician read the standard and gave her the all clear, inc. the colour charts and the other aircrew-specific bits details that are not normally tested for speccy wearers.
So, if you want to fly and you are under 18 (or still in 6th form), get the free eye test before going to the AFCO. Will save much grief later.

Re: post #1253:
If you find out the answer, could you please let all frontline aircrew know?
Minutes of latitude/longitude or time?
Ok, here is an easy one.
Nav takes fix at 0857.
Calculates it will take 4 minutes to the next waypoint.
What time will he arrive?
Is it:
a. 1257
b. just after 9am
c. 0861
d. Never as you are going in the opposite direction.

Lecky PVR
Has anyone used the PVR feature on JPA yet? I heard a rumour that it doesn't actually function - now there's a surprise. If you have used it successfully - did you let anyone know through the usual channels and, if not, how long was it before it was noticed?
I don't own this space under my name. I should have leased it while I still could
The answer was very simple. Local/Zulu/Alpha/Latitude/Longitude was all red herrings and presupose prior knowledge of navigation etc.
The correct answer was C.
a. 1257
b. just after 9am
c. 0861
d. Never as you are going in the opposite direction.
Time 0857 TTG 4 ETA 0861
Simple really.
Now of course you might need a 1st Class Maths degree from Cambridge as one student who got it right had. But even a GCSE C in Maths should have got that right. Shame on all you aircrew.

This has a couple of answers, like 08:61, or 09:01, the majority of observers with red-green deficiencies see the number 73. The majority of observers with normal colour vision see nothing at all! This is because NORMALS sense of colour is actually masking the subtle brightness differences which colour deficient observers use to see the numbers.
so one step forward all you 'orrible deficients
sorry, forgetting myself just for a second, as you were.

Pilot height restrictions
Good evenin' all,
I am applying as a pilot for the RN, I have already passed my FATS and have strong confidence in myself for AIB, however, im a little concerned about the height restrictions. Can anyone shed some light on the requirements for the different measurements??
thanks Blimy

Are you between 5'3" and 6'6" - that's about the range from memory. Cobalt Frog is a Junglie and 6'6", and there is/was SHAR pilot of about 6'6" also.

Ill soon be 18 and im just short of 6ft3, i was of the understanding that it was more crucial to fit measurements such as buttock to heel and sitting height rather than purely how tall you are??

It is - but if you are in proportion you'll be OK. The info is on here somewhere, try searching. If you find your knuckles drag on the ground when walking upright then apply to the RAF Regt - you won't stand out I promise
