I would suggest that next time you get in from the pub and decide to comment on something you obviously know nothing about, you reconsider. Moron.
The crewman in that Merlin needs a good slating and rebriefing about being strapped in. What on earth does he think he is doing... Clown. Maybe he is checking the tail in case it hits a tree.... If anyone knows that moron then please tell him to sit down and strap in.

At what point does he need to be strapped in then as opposed to being attached to a fully functioning restraint harness? He doesn't.
You get a really good view of the landing area from being strapped in inside the cabin don't you?! No, you don't.
Before you start throwing insults around check your facts and stop living up to your name.
Tw@t.
If this was a pathetic fishing trip, then well done you. You win a prize.

Where in the landing checks does it state...
Crewman................ Attach despatcher harness and then hang out of the door.

If this was an approach into a confined area then his role is to check that the aircraft is clear of obstructions and that the landing site is suitable, slope, surround etc etc ... but this was RAF Waddington. there are no obstructions.... the landing site is safe, no slope and a thorough FOD plod was conducted.
Now....go and tell this buffoon to stop showing off and to sit down and strap in.

Once again, please enlighten us, your expertise coming from where exactly?
A bloke down the pub??
You seem a bit confused about your background from some of your posts...
Oh dear, nothing like a little bit of loyalty to your old service is there oh round one? Or were you having a bit of a senior moment? Don't worry it happens at your age. See, insults are easy to throw around.
On a more serious note, when was the last time you read any Merlin Mk3 landing checks then?
All it says is 'Harnesses' ergo despatchers harness for the crewman, not 'sit down and strap into a seat'. Can't speak for the RN as I don't know their SOPs. Much like you obviously don't know RAF ones.
P.s Best have a word with the Puma and the Griffin Crewmen while you are at it. They don't seem to be sat down and strapped into a seat either
Edit: Sorry for the thread drift 7 of 9, but some people seem to make a habit of it. Great set of photos btw.

Without getting into a spot of crab bashing (OK then I will) that is the exact reason why the RAF will never be able to fly the JSF from sea.
This is Naval Aviation. These guys who are still part of the FAA (Remember no one leaves the Fleet Air Arm

As a serving RAF Officer I think it makes great sense. Why not? it would save millions, would make the Armed Forces more efficient, give greater Operational Capability but above all it would alleviate us all from the sensleless and witless decisions made by the Air Lords...... lets do it.

In the fair few times that I have been carted around in the back of Puma, Sea King, Chinook or Iroquois (didn't think it was a Griffin that we used in Brunei).
I can never remember the crew chief being safely strapped in with the rest of us. He was always walking around stooped or crouched by the door with his long harness clipped on. Especially when landing where he always had his head out the door whilst giving information to the pilot.
If I went to an airshow, I would want to see the crew act as if they were on ops, not all 'two penny buns' as if they were landing on a nice flat billiard table of an airfield.

Spheriod, can you pop down to stores and get an issue of anti-obnoxiousness pills please?
I fear that you may be running low.
4 posts, and you have shown complete ignorance and a lack of experience, been rude to other forum members, made stupid comments about an member of aircrew, spinelessly avoided questions aimed at you from other forum members.
Are you going for some kind of record?
I thought that moderators had to agree the first 10 posts to stop idiots like these, or is this a bite or wheeze from Pop?

The last post was not by our beloved Spheroid, but by the name changing troll who is appearing all to often in the Mil Aircrew forum to stir things up. You will notice he has called himself SpherIOd this time

Despite all the doom and gloom on here re Waddo this year I had a great time. I appreciate with ops buing so busy it is difficult to put more displays on.
Contrary to the forecast on saturday we had a lovely sunny day in fact my mate still has the sun blisters on his head to prove it!
So thanks to all concearned for a great day out. It was nice to see the Vulcan even if she did not make a display. Loved seeing the BAC 1 11, not seen one of them for donkeys years. Thanks again Waddo!
