Given that the MPs have just awarded themselves a 1.9% pay rise today*, I doubt that we will see much more. Though it could still be possible that we will get a 1.9% pay rise and a 'separate adjustment' of the X factor in light of entering in to 2 wars since it was last reviewed. That way, the govt could say that they continue to limit the public sector pay rises to below inflation whilst at the same time telling the public that they value the unique contribution of the military at these difficult times etc etc...

*Although I wouldn't be surprised if their allowances have gone up significantly on the QT.

Danger

On a recent visit to paperclip castle at Innsworth, I heard rumblings along the lines of X factor being "adjusted" upwards! This in theory would be good news as it would benefit us financially and avoid a large "headline" percentage rise to keep the coppers and all public workers appeased.

You were saying? Check out the link. It would appear in theory they could possibly claim up to £43,000 without providing receipts.

MP's

Well. Why don't we all copy the link

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/liv...n_page_id=1770

Into an Email to our respective MP's and ask why we have to justify almost everything with JPA yet they can claim £43,000 without receipts?

I am about to, the more that do the more they might realise what spoilt W****RS they are and how badly they don't set the example.

OK, so if everyone else's pay is going up by a trivial amount, how come Browns boys have decided that the unemployed and benefit scroungers need a 3.9 per cent rise?

Obviously in order to try and remove the differentials between those in work and those who don't want to.

The only mugs left in this country are those of us who are being robbed blind by this out of control bunch of looneys so they can give it away hand over fist to anyone else who wants it.

BAH!!

How about a 10% pay rise for the military, payable from 1 Feb 09.

So, only 2 months out of 12 means a 10% pay rise is only 1.4%(ish) over the year, below the governments target, but at the end of the financial year our base pay has gone up by 10%.

It works for me!

I have said this before the RAF can have a 14.6% pay rise funded by the cut of 6000 troops this year.

The RAF has been cut from 47,000 to 41,000 thats a lot of extra wages that are no longer being paid every week.........mine included

PVR you know it makes sence.

Want to save even more money just close Wyton and the waste of space IPT's

Blogger,

You have a point about IPTs. A bit like Battle Plans......... Never survive first contact with the enemy (BAES)....

I like your logic, a bit like staged pay rises of old!

Does nothing for my pension which I start collecting in July this year though.

PVR, you know it makes sense!

Everyone asked that question last year as well. I think it finally appeared sometime in March.

Enginessuck.....

"he is not going to get very far by treating his public service like naughty children."

But I've seen you in the pub, you naughty child!

Seriously, your statement was valid and I for one agree with you and hope the military, police etc get a decent pay rise. (especially the RAF 'cos that has a knock-on effect on my pension when I turn 55, LOL!)

S-Sooty,

Sadly, it's too late for many, although your latin(ish) advice is well founded. I personally hope for: a better than inflation rise in 'X' Factor, complemented by a 1.9% basic increase. This allows: 1- The Idiots at the top to pretend they are being fair across the PS area, and 2- Highlight how much they think of the Armed forces (Which is little in reality).

'Win Win' in their Tiny minds. The systemic problems will continue however, with poor accom, tightened budgets, travel, hotels, food etc all hit to pay for the 'rises'.

Bottom line: It will be at NO COST. Gain = Loss (somewhere).

Still, could be worse, could be an MP who has just funded his kids through College using public funds......... that's gonna hurt!

AIDU,

Are you saying that come Sept they are going to introduce the system that caused such a nightmare when it was trialed last year? Some people on my Squadron are still having their pay messed about with six months after the trial ended. Ater two failed attempts to get FSI allowances to run as actuals I would have thought is was time accept the current "rate" system is the only one fit for purpose.

FWIW I think the 'pay rise' is quite easy to work out.

1.9% - but to make it over 3 years - so 5.7% spread over 3 years.

Stays in line with the government's proposals for 3 year public sector pay deals, keeps the 1.9% requirement and allows the eedjuts we work for to herald an "Interest busting Pay Rise for the Armed Forces - a whopping 5.7% spread over 3 years"

If I'm wrong by more than 0.1% then I'll eat my hat!

A large hike in Flying Pay makes sense. It can be hidden from the 'Let's prevent inflation' brigade, whilst targeting some of the pinchpoint trades.

Notice I said 'some of the pinchpoint trades'. Not sure how they are going to tackle the wider dissatisfaction.

Anyway, seem to remember being told when pay2000 came in that flying pay was now to regarded as 'retention pay'. If it isn't retaining, it should be raised.
