Samuel, thanks for that. Have you got a link to the other photo, the one with Bill standing out to the starboard side of the Vulcan?

The following year we zapped all the Strikemasters. "Not the display one please". We got that one as it stopped taxiing and before th ecrew got out.

BAe was not best pleased as we used really high quality paint. It went straight through the polyurethane down to the primer.

Ironic that the 3 Typhoons will be flown by ex-RNZAF pilots (14SQN RNZAF)who were released when the Kiwis decided to axe their own Fast jet force!
Will Uncle Helen be shaking a little nervously as those guys fly the attack profile?

It is indeed ironic, but a nice touch all the same!

The "Kiwis" didn't decide on the axing by the way, it was Helen, who had protested at the time of purchase!

Been over to Brize Norton this afternoon and NZ7571 was performing practice runs over the airfield before being joined by 5 typhoons (3 in formation with the 757, 2 others trailing behind). They performed 3 flyovers in formation before going further afield due to Brize departures (Antonov 124 and Gates C-21 400012), around 15:30 the 757 landed back at Brize.

That wasn't a practice run old bean, that was the real McCoy. Holding over Bzn awaiting the typhoons, and in over London.

If it was intentional, then I think it was a wonderful gesture on someone's behalf to make it a Kiwi affair, and especially so given the reason. I watched the whole thing, [shown live in NZ at 0300 dark!] and quite impressive it was. Very moving at times.Well done to anyone who might have had an involvement.

Then the All Blacks hammered France 47-3.....my cup runneth over!

Samuel,

I listened properly today to the words of Welcome Home for the first time. Had not realised how apt they were to the events in London.

Great effort and very moving.

Sorry Pontius, That's all I have.

I don't suppose someone could tell me, privarely of course, who the three Kiwis were? They'll still be remembered by ex-14 Sqn people here.

I promise not to mention the All Blacks , England, or France ever again [at least not until Paris next Saturday].
