Unhappy Herc Down

Guys and Gals, I'm sorry to be the one to break this. Sky News is reporting a British Herc down outside Baghdad. My thoughts are with the crew and families.

Any idea which Sqdn?

I'm not military but my fella is based at Lyneham and currently near Bagdad flying Hercs.

Would really appreciate any news you might have.

We're not married or living together so I wouldn't expect to hear officially.

It would appear from initial reports that noone got out, at this point it's impossible to speculate cause, all I can say is thoughts and prayers are with the whole force and their families at this awful time.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Defence said of the crash: "It has just happened and it is one of ours."

JustCraig,

Don't rush. Rumour only hurts people unnecessarily. You'll find out soon enough. (Even if you aren't the one to report it - registered today?)

The short version is, it's one of ours.

Lets wait for the official version and hope for the best.

Propulike,

Yes of course, you are right. No point in getting myself or others worked up. I think I'll sit on my hands and go and watch the news again. Thanks.

JustCraig,

I hope you simply didn't read the post from the concerned lady properly, hence your question. If you're a journo s*d off. Thoughts for all Albert mates and families.

sky news filling endless minutes with waffle and 'military' experts saying what it could/couldn't be etc etc - waste of time and it just creates speculation.

i just wish they would report the hard facts and save the discussion for when they have the whole picture.
