yanbancypilot:

i guess you're one of those types are unhappy no matter how good the offering conditions may be... IMO you have a reall problems with life in general as with you last thread (#50) ...
you just love degrading not only individuals, organisations, cultures but national identity as well because THEY DON'T suit you mode of thinking .. WAKE UP MAN ..you AIN'T THE 'SULTAN' of Aviation NOR are you The Einstein of it either...... looking at your previous posts ( yes some posts and threads had been deleted for the record)concludes me to believe you're a serial whiner with only about a bee's poop of real objective information...

The Turks are not bad people but they just can't get out of their own limits set between delusional otto"manic" dreams of a political Islam hegemony in the Middle East on one side and xenophobic ultra nationalistic kemalism on the other
why on earth are you so delusional or turkophobic beats the hell outa me?? i been in the company for over 4 years now and may be out of say 5000 people i find one who may be a over patriotic type ( but not a surprise as most locals have military backgrounds) are you saying this is not normal?? ... AND NEVER HAVE I CAME ACROSS A OTTO-EXTREMIST?? it think thats you magicianry/imaginary (hard to tell the difference some time from you replies) procrastination rather than actual facts .

as i said in my previous post in another thread ( that got deleted BTW mmm???) Turkish Airlines may not be ideal solution for some (like you yabancipilot) but at the end of the day when you do a pro's and con's analysis its a better option for what out there ... let me say it again NOT the IDEAL SOLUTION but a BETTER OPTION .. for some one, wanting to have a job in the first place or be close to home or fly a young fleet may be compelling factor??

the problems you encounter here are not unique to THY, operators all over the world have the same issues ,... you think locals within the asian , middle eastern, african and south American carriers don't have same issues when an outside culture enter into their backyard? i have even experienced this in many western operators as well... so may i suggest to get over your imperialistic views and you're hell bent attitude of if you can't change or understand them then s*it bag on them attitude and try to Understand and integrate.. at the end of the day it is their Airlines and WE ARE JUST VISITORS and when the time comes, be it THY factors or better opportunities, we will move on..

.the poorest I have ever seen
so you just assume the whole culture and the people in it are really poor aviators and you by some divine notion are the 'right stuff'.. hate to poop on your party my friend but i seen a lot lot worse (yes even western cultures too).. is not FAIR or Ethical to make such a assumption and relegate a whole culture to such a status...
yes some have language barriers, then again English is not their NATIVE language so you can probably be abit understanding to this... And YEs they have taken mitigating steps to weed out the unacceptable ones.. remember change is a slow process but it is getting better...

No one of them wants you here
any more than a LHT, AFR, BA fliers for national flag carriers would want foreigners i suppose any flag career would give priority to their the national pilots.
again generalising 'No one of them'

Again stay away and just consider if desperate
consider the options ... some are unfortunately limited in this category... IF YOU'RE DESPERATE there are always other interesting alternatives :)

YABANCIPILOT: Please answer one question ?
if you thinkg that THY and turkey for that matter, is a place filled with people that can't get out of their own limits set between delusional otto"manic" dreams of a political Islam hegemony in the Middle East on one side and xenophobic ultra nationalistic kemalism on the other. They are a bit pathetic in their stubborn "grandeur" about themselves , about their influence in the world, and about their piloting and English skills..the poorest I have ever seen. No one of them wants you here

Turkey ranked first... of the worst!! In front of Chile...
that THY is not an expat airline
Turkish arrogance prone and ultra- nationalistic attitude

i could go on and on and on and post, even to me as an expat, sometimes your offensive comments...but

i gather you been in the company since 2010-11 its been 3 years and YET YOU'RE STILL HERE after complaining and scaremongering all that time...why???

I find you're a hypocritical serial compulsive complainer who have unrealistic expectations or complain about issues which are not really relevant to information been sought whist making unsubstantiated claims... May be for a change be objective rather than being racially subjective?

EST: PM ill give you a overview on what to expect :)

to the others THY not the utopian carrier but it is one of the better 'available' options for now...
and all that talk about career longevity, well think if this before 2008 it was unheard of for THY taking foreign F.O let alone DECs but now the intake consists of both and Expat FO being transitioned to the widebodies .. with its orders and growth rate its only a matter of time for expats to be upgraded as the local supply can not keep up with demand .. change is happening (merging of the expat and local seniority and the procedures for transitions and upgrades) but its a slow process.

but remember : We are professionals when we are given a better opportunity, we take it and move on .... until then we compose our professionalism and aid in the change rather than have unrealistic expectations and hinder the chance of others that may need a job that can pay the bills ...

Airbus_a321 25th Aug 2013 10:24

yabanci is right

forced to work also in this part of the world - so just to pay my bills - again i must state that yabanci is correct in all aspects mentioned.
he is a frankly speaking messenger - do not shoot him. But I mentioned this already. Anyway.
For those who still consider to go to this aircraft operating company, do not complain once you are in and you feel by your own that everything posted by yanbanci was correct, that you have not warned enough before.

I'll be so interested if you can please share with us more information regarding this matter.
The contract has around 8 parts. You can give me the point from 1 to 8 where you found that there will be no upgrade for FOs.

Thanks!
I wrote that 24 days ago. Still waiting for an answer.

Otherwise I will have to think that you're writing things which are not true just to make your point look "stronger".

If you have such a thing there to demonstrate that we can find this information in the new contract, please post (or give me the point where is's written and I will have no problem to come here and say: yes this guy is correct, that's actually written there).

777 Capt EK vs 777 Capt THY

Hi guy's , any chance to get an update on the situation with THY ?

Am done with EK , no more juice to give , rosters is **** , 8/9 days off a month spread , 6 to 8 flights/month ,no more social life due to fatigue , now I jeopardize my health .....
Staff number became a Slave number now !

I am looking for plan B .....
Can I get an update on THY roster , salary , commuting to Germany etc...

Thx

Jumeirah James 8th Feb 2015 08:04

Yes, I'd like to know too please. I think Turkish came to DXB and gave a presentation to pilots, but hardly anyone knew about it until too late (well, I didn't know :))
Also, any rumours if they're going to get any A380's?

Cheers

Thridle Op Des 8th Feb 2015 08:15

Rumours of 10 (see anna.aero)

Oscar84 10th Feb 2015 12:03

Then Turkish looks like better than Ek?

More or lesssame salary, no upgrades on the Ek...

GF4RCE 10th Feb 2015 17:23

Just an extract from my post in the THY recruitment thread...

strong rumour that they are in negotiation to hire 2x 380 at the moment as they are running into slot issue with some destinations as locals authorities are resisting increased frequency so THY most likely will increase the seat capacity..

and they trashed the university requirement for F.O upgrades (both locals and expats) and now require 4500 if you have a degree or YOK equivalence or 6500hs without it ..

spoke to a few friends from EK about the time to command and when you compare EK to THY ... if THY stays true by removing the uni qualification all together along with upgrading expats then time to command will shorter in THY.. (110+ narrow buses, 90+737's 40+ Widbodies.. plus the talk for a possible A350/777 order (H.T comments at the pilot meeting) rumours of the 380 bite... and the bigger airport being built just north.. the growth and progression looks more promising at THY for now... but this is aviation and as such NO guarantees at all

kumbaya 10th Feb 2015 17:34

What I like in THY is that the distance to Europe is shorter with more frequent flights. For example 4 daily flights to: Dusseldorf/Frankfurt/Amsterdam et.
They made it very easy to buy a ticket nowadays as well.

If you're on the wide body commuting is possible !

Viverosg 28th Feb 2018 20:09

Thy question

Hello, Considering you work at thy, and that I got a Job offer, from THY... How good is going to THY as FO in B737, how possible is to be upgraded to Captain, I have 4400 hours, and I am collecting info to accept or not the job offer.. thank you.

It will be on a narrow body and the work load will be pretty serious. Currently Turkish pilots are exempt from income tax ( a bit like the French artists ), this is rumoured to be changing under Turkey's outspoken prime minister. That would mean more coin in Dubai. All the best with your decision.

Thread Bump

Viverosg sorry can't help you other than to point out that all the above replies are at least 3 years old....

With luck someone will give a reliable update. But look around the forum also for other opinions on EK & THY at the moment.
