Thanks TOGA,

Your recommendation is along the lines of my initial gut feeling.

Is any one still getting interviews scheduled with EK? I got my app finished about a week ago, which was about the time I noticed guys were starting to talk about the holding pool. I am just hoping they do not slow down or stop the interviews and hiring.

Are there any ex-USAir guys out there at EK that could give me some tips on getting in the door with an interview? If so PM me, or leave a note here.

Emirates (EK) Interview - all you need to know about it (threads merged)

I am interviewing at Emirates soon. I was told that on the simulator I would have the choice to sit in the left or right seat. I am currently in the right seat of an Airbus, so that is where I am most current. Does anyone know if there is any preference of which seat we choose to sit in?

Instant Hooligan 5th Jul 2008 14:51

Correct

What you were told is correct. You have the choice of which seat you sit in.

casio man 5th Jul 2008 14:51

Left or Right?

They are going to evaluate you based on the hours that you have and of course the position that you are applying to.

Thus, if you're going for a FO position, take the seat that you think you will perform the best in. I don't really think they will bother too much if you are sitting on either the right or left as in the briefing they do mention that you will handle the flight as the Commander ie: decisions, briefings, checklist call etc will all be at your direction.

goriding 5th Jul 2008 14:54

The most important part of your sim ride is your performance. Sit where you are most comfortable.

How long was it between submitting your app and your interview? I got one submitted recently and am wondering what the time line is running like now.

Good luck,

Leavers at Emirates clinic

Any truth in the rumour that the Star Irish dentist is leaving in september????
He will be very difficult to replace for many reasons.

Obbie 6th Jul 2008 16:08

What does a dentist leaving have to do with interview results ????

Anyway, is there anyone who can comment on this pattern of silence
that some of us are getting. After almost 9 weeks of nothing and a
few in the group being pooled at the 6 week mark, does this mean the
rest of us are done....or should we still hold onto the idea that no news
is good news ??

serious flyer 7th Jul 2008 00:14

Ek has now 2 pools: one of those that have received the Ok from the company, but no starting date, and those that got no answer, even after 10 or more weeks.
If you try to contact them, they only say that your application is under review and no decision has been made yet.
Nobody comments on that, inside Ek.
And we just keep waiting.

I have received an acceptance letter and am curious if anyone knows of how long the wait is until a class/training date rolls around?
Thanks for any speculation.

Thats the million dollar question.

Emirates (EK) Interview - all you need to know about it (threads merged)

Greetings everyone,

I am new to the board

Interested in applying for Emirates. However, I am realistic in the fact that you probably need references from folks who are already there. What realistic chance does someone have in being called for an interview.
Have 4000+ hrs in turbojet with 1100+ turbojet PIC
I am currently working for a US National 121 carrier that may furlough in the next couple of months.:}

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Seminole40

At the moment you have no chance for an interview with only Turboprop time.

The pool here is now full of heavy pilots from United and AA.

You might be a better pilot than them but that does not count here, only color and size of your equipment.

Tacolegend 8th Jul 2008 03:51

Where does it say turboprop time?

Wizofoz 8th Jul 2008 04:05

Well done Seminole! Your first post and you've started an argument! Welcome to Pprune, and the ME section in particular!

If you have 4000hrs inclusive of 2000 jet time you are eligable. You don't need a reference, though an internal reccomendation doesn't hurt.

Obviously with the current international situation, there are lots of applicants, so it is much more competitive than previously, but put in the application and see what happens.

Best of luck!!

Cancelled Interview

I just received an email this morning from the HR department at EK. They said my interview date was no longer available, but they will keep my application on file for future available dates. I was scheduled to go in August. Does anybody know what's going on?

Hey Bravo,
