Guess you got framed by the recruitment department, it is not too late to say no. Just read along here, everything is written here! Good luck! |

I Didn't think of it that way! but it's alright, what you say makes sense. Happy 2017 to you all. |
had the offer to join ek sept 2015 from an eastern lcc, was not sure of the move and dug in deep, instead did my upgrade on the 320 and happily flying lhs from home to europe and back home. don't regret a thing, though I still have my mind set on long haul and multicultural experience. Hoping to start a family that keeps me around (in my late twenties) meanwhile building pic hours on airbus that really open doors and DEC opportunities look pretty tempting from now on.
Just for you guys to have a look at the other half of the glass. Happy landings and happy new year! |
Have to join EK very soon. Now feel absolutely confused with all the things written here... Enthusiasm is diminishing...
Not afraid of working hard. Flying is a hard work. Training is a hard work.. But feel its too risky to get myself and my big family into that trap in case benefits are being cut. Also, if the airline does not grow anymore, what are the chances for career growth? |
For goodness sake AEGOR! Enthusiasm is diminishing... Where have you been for the last 10 years, cos it's been this way at EK for at least that long.
|
I can wait...wow so exciting...
|
What's the cut off age for DE FOs? Can't seem to find anything on the EK website.
With regards to having turbo prop time on a/c below 20 tonne and no jet time, I'm about 300 hours short of the required 3000 hours although most of my heavy turbo prop time has been PIC, I have over 10k TT most of which is PIC and turbine. Are they strict on these minimums, or do they allow for exceptions based on other experience? |
I don't think they publish their age maximums. They change their requirements quite often, and have unpublished requirements. Apply and find out.
|
Thanks atpcliff, I will apply.

And joining this company with a big family of more than 3 kids is a killer. At least 4 months salary will go in to scholing... 4th kid you dont get an anual leave ticket for, every month you pay 600 aed for medical insurance etc. no inflation correction so every year you have less to spend.
Be aware... |

Bell man - of you're worried about maximum age then really is EK the best option?
I hope you and all the other wannabes aren't doing this because you are chasing money you'll regret it. With a clear head think to yourself can you fly the hours we fly, have the limited time off, be along way from home, have ****ty rosters (lots of hours + few days off)+ long time to command now? Those are some of the major points many other smaller irritations that get under your skin the longer you're here! Just dont want to be flying with you when you've realised it was a huge mistake and then you're here, big bond, unhappy etc etc! Off flying - AGAIN! |
Yeah Flyingishere, why let the facts get in the way. You can add me to that list...
|
Flyingishere
You dont have a clue, do you....
|
Long time to command? Four and a half years is still commonplace. That is pretty short by any standard for a wide body company with seniority lists.
|
Yeah Flyingishere, why let the facts get in the way Everyone's generous free advice has been well and truly heard in this forum. But why does everyone have to keep labouring the same points? Everybody knows you guys hate your jobs and your lives and you regret everything. I feel for you, believe me it sounds terrible. But there are already a myriad of threads exclusively discussing how bad Emirates is. Can't this one be left alone for discussion about the recruitment process? |

Really? I have flown with five guys in the last two months that got promoted six months ago at their 4.5 year points.
|
Thanks for the responses everyone. I am fully aware of the negative aspects of joining and I don't need to hear anymore of it, I get the picture.
What works for some may not work for others. I think I'm mature and wise enough to be able to make up my own mind. |
Hello everyone. I am very new to this forum, and apologizing in advance if I am repeating the same question. I am wondering what experience is Emirates looking for in their flight crew. I know in the site they say 2000 or 3000 hrs, depending on what type of aircraft you flew . But do they actually hire pilots with the min requirements, or people who are currently in 703/ air taxi operations?
Any advice or information will be really helpful. Thanks, Con |
There are a lot worse places to work! Take a look at Air Niugini!!!!!!!!!
