While I don't want to sound too glib, the person who rang you did state they were going to check your ELP. It would appear that they weren't happy with it, as simple as that. In an airline with so many heavily accented cultures it is a problem that can arise during high stress periods on the flightdeck

My only suggestion would be to improve your ELP to a level 5 and then resubmit...?

msmdsh:

"Not successful" doesnt mean your application has been rejected, it means that there is something about your application that they arent looking for right now/they have better options for...this may change once their requirement changes
Mail to the HR directly and ask for an explanation for the change in status, they might tell you what is wrong and how you might change it.:ok:

flyer19832007 5th Oct 2013 23:00

Good evening folks,

Just a quick question, I am very quickly nearing the 2000Jet 4000Total required to apply to EK (non Boeing or Airbus rated) so I figure it may be a long wait.

I was wondering do you have to be currently flying a jet Type before joining EK, or does simply having the time on a jet qualify.

The reason I ask is a command on a Turboprop with my current operator may well be available well before an assessment/ job offer with EK should I be successful and I'd quite fancy a command for a bit I think (subject to passing the command course of course!)

I am wondering what the rules are in the Middle East with regard to flying a 777/330 from a TP as I know British Airways state you need to be current on a jet type before you qualify for the long haul fleet.

Thanks for your input......

Do you know whats happening on the selection?

transport jock 19th Oct 2013 14:35

flyer19832007, unless you have time on a 30ton plus aircraft at the very least, dont count on EK giving you an interview.

Even then, i know people with a few 1000 hours on crj700 types who havent gotten an interview yet..

last time i heard they only wanted airbus/Boeing type rated crew, with the odd Embraer/CRJ guy getting a interview..

I am in a similar situation to you, 5400 hours now, 3600 on jet, but most of it sub 30 ton...

Jimmy The Big Greek 20th Oct 2013 03:53

I have 6000 hours on B737 and A320 and I have been shortlisted for 2 years now and I don't think I will get invited any time soon.

SOPS 17th Nov 2013 16:38

I see they are starting road shows again. December in KL, for Airbus rated and experienced people.

safelife 17th Nov 2013 17:24

They also sent out emails to applicants couple of days ago, especially advertising A380 DEFO.

south coast 17th Nov 2013 19:01

From the email I received their priority is to fill the 380 FO positions and they are only considering people rated on and with time on Airbus or Boeings.

This could change, but not for the foreseeable future.

prisoner24601 18th Nov 2013 11:16

I bit the bullet and applied about 2 weeks ago. I got the email "application in short list hold pool" does anyone know what this means?

Thanks.

I had the email regarding 380 FO's this week too... One of my friends here seems quite interested but we discussed the supposed reuruitment ban between Qatar Airways and Emirates... Does anyone have first hand experience of this 'ban'?

Is it true?
Is it current?
Is there any way round it?

I mean does anyone 'know' about it, rather than has anyone 'heard' about it?!

Cheers...

Owwww... Just got a bit of tumbleweed in my eye!

prisoner24601 26th Nov 2013 20:34

I applied a few weeks ago and have been "SHORTLISTED" in capital letters. I did hear a rumour that whether shortlisted was written in capitals or lower case did mean different things. Any ideas what?

"...They explained at the recent roadshow that shortlisted means you have met the requirements and/or being considered for specifically one of the fleet.

SHORLISTED means you have met the requirements and/or being considered for more than one type..."

But honestly I am not sure it is still a truth. With your Boeing experience you do not meet A380 requirements. And as far as I know they hire only for either 777, or 380. So on the basis of above mentioned thread, you should be in "Boeing group" and be "shortlisted".

Good luck !!!

Xulu 28th Nov 2013 04:35

Yeah I posted that. I promise that's what they said, although I've also noticed people recently saying they have been SHORTLISTED with only Boeing time.

I'm currently SHORTLISTED with only 2600 hours Airbus, previously this would have limited me to shortlisted.

Maybe they have changed policy either on A380 requirements, or maybe it's in anticipation of A350 recruitment which will accept Boeing guys.

Or maybe they are just as confused as we are!

RjAgCR 29th Nov 2013 00:25

EK Pilot Roadshows: during these roadshows do they only provide info about EK and the recruitment process or will they also give you the chance to try a SIM for PSP1?

winterinhell 29th Nov 2013 00:51

Hi guys, my status also shows "SHORTLISTED' now tho I dunno what it really means..anyway im goin to the singapore roadshow n kl roadshow..will update what happen there..

Hello to all of you!!

I am new here!! I am very happy I became a member of this forum! I read forums a lot and I have to admit in some cases the more you read , so more confused you feel. I sent my online application form to emirates last week. They sent me an email that said the details of the open day here in Greece. However, i read in some forums that the purpose of online application is to go immediately in the assesment day and not to the open day. Is it true? I have to wait for another email for emirates or to simply go to open day?
P.S: my online application status says Under review
Please help me!!!!!!!:O

@stellasour

First of all stella this is a forum for pilots, here is the link for cabin crew. Cabin Crew Wannabes - PPRuNe Forums

As for your question, sometimes your online application invite is for assessment in which case you do not have to attend an open day. But since you say you applied for open day you will need to be called back in order to go to assessment day.

you also do not need an invite. In my opinion it is best not to apply, that way if you do not make it to the final interview you can attend another open day within 6 months as they will have no proof that you ever attended one and were in a waiting period. Good luck,I hear Greece always has hundreds of applicants.
