I submitted my application in mid November, and I received the interview invitation this week. It took more or less 3 weeks.

falcao77 15th Dec 2011 00:41

Hi,

I am seriously thinking to move to EK. Although I know it's a difficult question, as we live in uncertain times...

If I join EK now, how long do you think it would take to become a captain at EK?

Do you think that if I join EK now I would have a better chance to become a captain in less time, than if I join some time later (say in 2 years time)? Or do you think that EK will continue with the present (unbelievable) expansion rhythm?

Any idea of when any future US based pilot roadshows might take place?

Thanks for the positive comments! I'm shortlisted and after reading all the negative comments it really makes you think. :ok:

PSP stage 3

Hi guys!

I´ve passed the first two stages of the PSP programme and I am now invited for the last stage in Dubai. Since the initial invite was some time ago and I´ve heard nothing since, no final confirmation or schedule for the days I have the following questions:

1. If you have done the same, how long before did you get the final confirmation (travel details etc). I´ve sent a couple of emails to the lady that handles this, but they have gone unanswered. I.e. when should I start chasing them up?

2. Anyone care to share some details about the two days? Is it only PSP applicants or do you do e.g. the group exercises with other pilots doing the full 4 days in Dubai?

3. Do you get to know whether you have passed or not while still in Dubai or do you have to go home and wait for an email?

Many thanks & Merry X-mas!
/L.

Hello...anyone has been invited to London for the first step? When they started to do it in London and not providing travel tickets and hotel?

7one7 7th Jan 2012 10:19

Must be the EK pre-selection process you are talking about. Kept all over the world. They will only provide tickets + hotel to Dubai which is the last part of the process.

Hey guys,

I am interested in applying to EK as well, my only concern is do they consider any corporate jet time as multi-crew, multi-jet time? I have over 10000hrs with a lot of Dash-8 time, and 850hrs of 737NG time, however I've been doing the corporate thing for the last 7 years flying Citation 560's, 680's and a Falcon 2000EX(which makes an Airbus 330 cockpit look old). I wondering what my chances of getting an interview are?

I'm making good money in North America, more take home than I would if I was at EK, minus the living expenses. My wife and I want to go somewhere different, and I'd like to get back into airline flying without taking a huge cut in pay like I would if I stayed here.

Thanks

Iver 10th Jan 2012 13:37

Falcon2000easy,

Why not apply? Your 737NG time will be valued - not sure if you need a specific number of hours on that aircraft (i.e., 1000 hours minimum). I am sure someone else has that minimum number.

That said, I would drop the "Falcon 2000 Easy is more sophisticated than the space shuttle" line. If you can fly a 737NG you can fly a 777.

QR is hiring big time as well. Doha is very different from Dubai but the jobs are similar. Plus, who knows, perhaps at QR you would get a seat on the 787 (coming in June) which is "almost" as sophisticated as a Falcon 2000 Easy...:}:D:ok:

Iver,
I know your heart is in the right place, but could you add a caveat that you don't work for any middle east airline to your posts? When reading your posts they come across quite authoritative which could be misleading.

Iver,

With regards to the Falcon 2000 cockpit, I didn't mean to sound arrogant, I'd just hate to have all my Falcon or even Citation Sovereign time be discounted because it's not an airliner. The 330 compared to the new avionics, like eASY, ProLine Fusion and the new Garmin systems in business jets is older technology. I'm not saying I can fly the space shuttle, far from it.

Iver 10th Jan 2012 16:20

Falcon2000Easy,

If you need to speak with someone who has actual experience with EK who can maybe relate with your situation, find and PM a guy named Falconeasydriver. He frequents these boards - do a search and send him a PM with your questions. He is an EK pilot who, obviously, formerly flew Falcons and airliners.

Good luck with your application.

Thanks for the info Iver.

Rumor of the 12 month waiting period from QR to EK

Any updates to the policy for QR pilots applying at EK? Also what is the bond for a full 777 type as well as a 320 guy getting ccq on 330 at EK? Thanks in advance for any updated info!

bigdaviet 16th Jan 2012 14:55

I will be attending the selection process in Dubai shortly. I would be very grateful if anyone could give me some recent feedback, or any other info on the process. PM is fine!

I have trawled through this thread almost in it's entirety! Just looking for any extra info. Every little helps!

Thanks very much!

GetOffMyBack 16th Jan 2012 23:45

Has anyone received conformation from EK on Pre- selection dates in Sydney next week?

QFdude 17th Jan 2012 12:57

Hi All, I'm also heading to Dubai for interviews. Any up to date info on the 4 day process would be appreciated. Just PM me.

Also has anyone done the Elite Assessment course for EK?? They're the ones that advertise on these forums. Is it worth it?

Thanks in advance.

MYSTERIO911 17th Jan 2012 18:55
