Life at EK...

Hi guys, just wonder how is life once you join.
Based on a few fellas there, big concern is training in the beginning, they said it is not a friendly environment, :yuk: and they do not train you at all, they are mostly evaluation guys.
Can anyone trhow some light onto this?
thing is if going to join a place that is so hostile, I better think again and maybe divert to alternate. Don´t think is healthy life a place that looks after you that way, at starting and thereafter.:=

ThanksĦĦĦ

I have a friend doing a 777 course at the moment and he is happy thus far with the training, says its a relaxed and friendly atmosphere?
Maybe he is just lucky or maybe that is the norm?

The phone call

Hi! I need help.

Yesterday I received a phone call from the recruitment department, but I wasn't home. Actually I'm on layover in TFN. My wife called me to inform me that they had left a message on my answering machine. She gave me the number, and I called from here, but I also got the answering machine. I left a message with my local phone number, and no answer yet. And they haven't called home either. Should I wait for another phone call from them? Or should I call again tomorrow when I get home? I've been waiting long for this phone call.....help! :ok:

Thanks!

trying to sort through the 1000 pages of this thread.... did sim check in usa and will go to dubai for interview in near future, will i have to repeat the sim check??

nyr738 27th Jan 2011 22:23

SOPS - you are saying the drop out rate is huge at the moment, what are people failling at, the sim (send home after day one) Or do they do the full 4 days. what is the best way to prepare ?

Kapitanleutnant 27th Jan 2011 22:43

PilotCPB

You won't have to do the sim again. Don't be worried as you'll get the whole sim package when you check in at the hotel you stay at. Same thing happened to a friend of mine and he panicked, but found out he didn't have to do the sim again.

EK do not have the sim time available to give you another one anyways!

Another1....

So,
I was shortlisted not too long ago, say a month or so, when i updated my application.
Just today i got an invitation to do the 4 (or5?) selection (feb and early march)
I am just wondering why?
Total time >10.000hrs
Jet, little over 1000hrs (45.000kg)
PIC >8000hrs.

I did read a lot of previous pages, doing temporarely contract work now, but sick of being uncertain (i know, EK is not the best either....!)

What you guys/girls think, just take my wife for a few days there and have a look?? (and maybe regret later??)

Thanks!

Initial training at EK

EXRAY - in regards to the comment about nil training, just checking. Complete BS...

I'm a TRI on the Airbus, and I know I speak for all my colleagues when I promise you we will "walk through fire" to give you the best possible training and all the help we possibly can to get you through!

It's a tough course, especially if you haven't flown the Airbus before but no big deal for a professional pilot. Most of the guys and gals I have had in the SIM and for Line Training lately, have been well up to speed and seem to perform very well.

Don't be too concerned about the training load if you are selected, but DO do your homework...

Villas are usually 3 bedrooms but may be 4. I'd be more concerned with the healthcare and education allowance for child number 4.....

sanddude 10th Feb 2011 17:38

Natops,

3 months out of your 12 months F/O pay will be for kid nr 4 (just health/education). That is the hard fact:eek:. Get rid of the kid or look for ssomething else:E.

Don,t come crying on the flightdeck in 6 months time:ugh:

Phone call

Good evening,

I've been shortlisted since about 10 days.
Received the shortlisted notice email few hours after I sent my application, but never received any phone call.
Checked my status on the careers website and it confirms the shortlisted status.
Could it be normal not to receive the phone call?
Has anyone had the same happen to them?

Thank you all in advance for your help and advice.

DIAPER 12th Feb 2011 16:06

Hi .

When I applied they sent me an message in the Emirates web page not in my personal email address. Two days after my applications someone called me from the recruitment department and made me a short interview , when we finished he told me they´ll forward me an email but I´m still waiting. That´s what happened to me, currently waiting and I don´t know how for long.

kennedy 12th Feb 2011 17:02

Food for thought,

980 hrs in the last 365 ( although only 870hrs according to to EK augmenting rules!)

95 hrs+ in feb (28 day month) plus training days ( no credit)

No leave available for current year,

Please, can you accept the lies on the interview so I can have a break!

Caveat FxxKing Emptor!!!!
