Etihad Airways 320 pilot exceeds 320 kts below 3000'

Yup on his last day he decided to give Etihad something to think about and only slightly exceeded the limits....

His poor F/O mustve been screaming....

Management will have to find a big rug to sweep this one under...

saviboy 9th Oct 2010 13:33

14?
I am not surprised to hear that people want to leave the 320 but how reliable is the source of your info? We heard all sorts of crazy numbers regarding 320 pilots leaving but I m still wondering how true these figures are.

TOGA! 9th Oct 2010 14:28

Good thing he wasn't a 777 pilot!

Jetjock330 9th Oct 2010 14:31

I thought the 777 guys drop the gear at 500ft into Manila

Red_Z3 9th Oct 2010 15:42

was it flap full at 100' jj330? :O what's your recollation of that one?
God only knows, the 777 guys could fly the space shuttle while everyone else is lucky to be given a plane for our mediocre skills

Safe Flying :ok:

Hoggtart 9th Oct 2010 16:13

Jedi Masters

Its awesome that he has such great skills to achieve such great aircraft control I can only imagine that he was instructed in the ways of the Jedi by such illustrious trainers as his fleet chief SY who himself tried to out fly the A320 in the Himalayas, albeit that the other Jedi masters present were saying their prayers and farewells at the time.......rock on Etihad, leading the world in commercial aviation!:ok:

Ben_Al_Katre 9th Oct 2010 16:14

So WB was trying to make a valid point about the current situation on the 320 fleet and out of the blue, without any provocation, MR JJ and MR Red Z3 started bashing the 777 guys???? Wonder why we all are f#$%%ed up? basically EY is sitting down watching how we fight among each others instead of supporting our fellow colleages on the 320 and defending ourselves against EY abusive practices. You two suck!!!!

iamaviator 9th Oct 2010 16:31

@ the OP.

Do you have a source to back up your information?

Many thanks,

Rule3 9th Oct 2010 18:41

Another, "I'm the only aircraft in the sky pilot"

NG Kaptain.........I fly slow, so everyone following you has to fly slow.:ugh:
Good on you, NOT.

Sorry...

..guess I miss something here: what's the big deal in flying 320kt@ 3,000'?
If you given "no speed restrictions" it's fine!

Ben_Al_Katre 9th Oct 2010 19:41

I guess you missed the fact that you are operating a commercial airplane and not an F-15. I seriously doubt any passenger in the world nor most of your colleages would appreciate this kind of "airmanship". I guess you can also make this low altitude, high speed penetration stunt inverted, with only one hand and at the same time taking pictures of the ground below (or above?) without spilling your coffee. Can't you Maverick?:D:D:D

Yeah great idea, right up to the moment you hit the bird!

xerox25 9th Oct 2010 21:43

It s a winshield resistance to the birds ! The winshield is certified for a 250 kt speed , even one day I was ask by the ATC to fly at 280 Kt at 3000 Ft:hmm:

ManaAdaSystem 9th Oct 2010 23:03

Yes, bird strike is an issue, but I have to say that if 320 kts at 3000 ft warrants a big discussion then I must be getting old. OK, it's fast, but nothing to wet your pants about.

If he had 320 kts on a straight in approach and was not stabilized at 500 ft? Then  to him for getting his Effoh in trouble. Think of that if you ever decide to do a "last famous".

fullforward 10th Oct 2010 01:15

Certified?

"The winshield is certified for a 250 kt speed ". Not true. There are some tests only. Far for being "certified".
Birds can be dangerous even at 190kt as USAIR learnt in January.

"No speed restrictions" climbs and arrivals are done thousands of times a day worldwide, saving tons of fuel and carbon out on the atmosphere.

Nothing about pissing in pants or innerently dangerous about flying few minutes at more than 250 kt.

To be stabilized on the approach have nothing to do about what speed you're coming. It's just a matter of planning and airmanship.

There's a lot of hysteria about 250 kt speed limit on training centers.:ugh:

Apparently so.
Earlier this year, approaching JED, ATC requests maximum speed, until 15 mile final.
We do 350 knots indicated, until 15DME.
ATC says...thank you.

Type, L1011.

NB.
One wonders...do the Euroland tupperware airplanes fall to bits above 320 knots indicated?:hmm:

Sir Osis of the river 10th Oct 2010 03:03

250kts

The EY company SOP says max speed is 250kts below 5000'

Simple really:ok:

Jetjock330 10th Oct 2010 03:13

Ben Al Katre,

Sent you a PM. No bashing of the B777, they usually very quiet, but all fleets have their days.

Dude, you sound like my mom who tells me not to fly too fast because it is dangerous. I hope you are not a pilot.

Yo
