@1975

6-8 months for Fast Track... 8-10 for a NTSO (from the current scenario)

Also, the pay is 10000QR with housing and 16000QR without housing.
Current situation -- no housing given to SOs. Hence takeaway 16000QR.

IN FOCUS: Qatar Airways looks for pilots as deliveries ramp up

cyrilroy21 24th Apr 2012 19:47

The carrier runs a scholarship programme for young Qataris, sponsoring ambitious youngsters to train as second officers, and plans to open this to foreign citizens
Interesting....

Iver 24th Apr 2012 23:56

Just curious, what does annual pilot attrition look like at QR? How many pilots resign or are fired annually (on average)? 100-200 pilots departing annually? Obviously new hiring will need to cover departing pilots as well...

VintageRed 25th Apr 2012 02:14

QR housing

Regarding the housing situation....

I knocked back an offer in Jan of this year because of various family issues, but am looking at applying again.

I understand that co housing is gone (due to numbers of new hires) but I wanted to know how easy/difficult it is to find your own accom.

I will have a wife and 2 small kids (3yrs and 6 months) coming with me so I'd need a 3br place.

Does the 10,000 cover a place?

Also, what about furniture and appliances etc, are they expensive?

Cheers

Red

Formal Offer of Employment

Hi All,
Just a quick question.
I received the positive e-mail a month ago, for the position Fast Track Second Officer. In the mail said it is seeking for approval to employ me and it should not take mroe than 6 weeks to receive the contract with fleet allocation.
Did it ever happen that someone who received a positive mail, NOT received the formal offer of emplyoment?
Cheers,
C U in Doha.

ADY 26th Apr 2012 08:36

When did you apply for the job gourm?

cccc 26th Apr 2012 10:58

I applied online the beggining of December 2011, went for the interview mid February. Received mid March a mail that I successfully passed the selection.
Waiting since then...

4holer 26th Apr 2012 13:43

Anyone ever been asked to fill out the hours summary again and submit it back AFTER the interview? They asked about 10 days after the interview, I submitted it to them again and haven't heard from them for over 2 weeks now.

Ripley72 26th Apr 2012 17:03

fleria 27th Apr 2012 10:58

Goodmorning http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...lies/smile.gif

i wanted to ask if someone knows what is the recruitment policy of Qatar Airways refering to non visible scars in the body(from surgery incision). I recently attended the cabin crew recruitment process and although i passed the first day of the process , during the second day, when we were taking the english test, they were asking each one of us privately if he/she had any scars, even no visible. I told them that i had two from appendix removal incision-very old one, and from breast augmentation surgery. I was not chosen after all but since i wanted to reattend an open dayin the future, maybe in Emirates, i wanted to know if someone knows sth about this matter (scars, breast augmentation). Thank you in advance http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...lies/smile.gif

Hi fleria,

Try the following forums, they might be more helpful than this thread(this thread is targeted for Pilots).

Cliff Richard 27th Apr 2012 14:59

I understand on arrival in Doha, and after you open a bank account with QR's preferred bank, you can then get a salary advance for the first month, and take subsequent reductions in pay over the next 2 months to cover the initial advance?

Can anyone tell me when the usual 'payday' falls in the month.

Regards

@Liberace, according to their website and other info, 2000 PIC on aircraft over 100T is required...thats the minimum, the reality is anyone's guess...

Wings23 29th Apr 2012 08:07

Hi all,

I have been invited for screening at the end of May.

I have a scheduling conflict with my current company and am desperately trying to get hold of Qatar HR to try and re-schedule my interview. Usual story though - no response to email and the phones just ring and ring.

What is the best time from your experience to try and call them?

@upwhereibelong

BRILLIANT MAN... BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!! i can imagine how happy you must be now..... WELL DONEEEEEE :ok::ok::ok::ok::ok:
a long wait--- but worth it....

dirk85 29th Apr 2012 12:39

I understand it's a stupid question, but I ask anyway... :}

I barely have the minimum for FTSO, 1100 TT, 700 multipilot jet time, (10 tonnes).

My current job is quickly going to s**t and I expect to be unemployed pretty soon.

Does everyone that meets the requirements get a shot at the interview, or still they can afford to be picky and only call a percentage of the applicants?

I am afraid I already know tha answer, but still... :(

StephanK 29th Apr 2012 13:03

Hi guys.
Just passing by to share my good news.

flyer19832007 29th Apr 2012 13:07

Congratulations to all who have been offered a position with QR recently.

I am thinking about applying, but would ideally like a 777/330 FO position. I am already flying a narrow body jet and would rather fly something bigger if I choose to leave the company I am with at the moment (would have to be for the right offer)

Are QR still chopping and changing their rating offers or have they stuck to their original offers of late?

I have heard stories of people being offered 777/330 but then given a 320 rating on arrival.

Regards, Flyer

flyforfood1 29th Apr 2012 13:51

flyer198.....

Whats your total time on narrow body? Airbus or Boeing?

flyer19832007 29th Apr 2012 14:25

flyforfood,

Neither type buddy, but a modern jet none the less over 30T. 2500hrs total 500 jet. I have no intention of applying until I have 1000 jet anyhow (to fulfill FO requirements)

So basically will be 3000hrs TT 1000 Jet before I even apply.

Flyer

flyforfood1 29th Apr 2012 15:09

Without putting a downer on it, you'd prob get 320. It seems the current flavour is wide body time or over 3500 jet time total to get a chance at wide body in QR, the 330 is a pretty stagnant fleet, not much (if any) projected growth, although there maybe a few transfers here and there.

Note. This could change at any time though and I stand corrected if its not the case.

flyer19832007 29th Apr 2012 15:23

Yeh figured as much, will probs just throw in an application and see what happens
Having read other threads, by the time I hear back if im successful ill be knocking on the EK requirements door!

Be interested to see how the arrivals of the 787s effects fleet allocation (most likely onto other wb). Might get lucky! Stranger things have happened!

Black Pudding 29th Apr 2012 15:53

dirk85

You can and should apply for Fast Track Second Officer

Regards

dirk85 29th Apr 2012 16:09

I did!

Just trying to figure out if I stand a chance to be called or not.

Does everyone with the requirements get the invitation?

Black Pudding 29th Apr 2012 16:13

Yes you do

Is your application still in the system. Did you upload a passport photo ?

Stick35 29th Apr 2012 16:20

Hi dirk85

I do meet the requirements but i did not get an invitation. Almost 5 months ago i applied. Don't know how they select people.

dirk85 29th Apr 2012 16:39

@Black Pudding

Yes, in the passport copy I was asked to upload there was also a picture. I will keep the application up to date on a weekly basis with the hours flown, you never know...

@Stick35

How much experience are we talking?
