Airbus A320 is quite busy. I am about to join but I have friends over there. According to them it is busy at the moment.

Hey guys, anyone knows about the upgrade opportunities at Etihad? Heard from different people that upgrades are very rare, is there any truth to that?

Upgrades on the wide bodies are rare and tough. It takes years to wait for your seniority (before the pandemic, it was about eight years; meanwhile there is a long queue of guys waiting who have the required hours), while someone else may be put ahead of you just like that.
Fail rate during the assessment is high (50% to 75% don't pass on their first attempt), usually for reasons that are hard to counter-prove ("your CRM was not up to standard"), the truth being that they need to show their high standards within the training department - and either someone didn't like your face, or they already passed all the locals and need the expats to fill the fail-quota.
On the other hand, if you have some good connections inside the office it significantly improves your chances.

Thank you, this is exactly what I have heard. What a shame because other than that it looks like a good company to join. Thanks.

What is considered as current? It seems like different airlines have different interpretations of this.

If someone is under the passenger contract can he change it to the cargo option or vice-versa? Can he ask to change it or is it all up to the company?

I heard 74 gear (channel on youtube) said something about that, he is a cargo/passengers pilot.

Hello,

I applied for the A320 FO position in Jan 2023. Status still shows application received, any idea how long does it usually take them to respond? If anyone from EY could shed some light on recent hirings and updates, would be super helpful. Thanks

TT 3500 Type 2500

This is only my opinion not backed up by anything solid besides my experience. I think you guys are just in a traffic jam as EY training department is at full swing, be patient guys, a wise man once told me: take as much fuel as you can and put yourself in a hold.

EY does not have EK capacity.
Good luck guys.
