Have they won?

There used to be quite a campaign being waged here and 50% of the threads were dedicated to one airline. It didn't even have to be named in the thread title and everyone knew which one it was. Any development was guaranteed to be covered here but now the notable stalwarts are nowhere to be seen and The Goat has taken the lead in thread count.

I do see a few familiar names which I believe are resignations/retirees who've moved on but still check in occasionally to fling dung.

Have the 7th floor clowns such as the former EGT succeeded in their scare campaigns and chased off the keyboard warriors?

Or have the defenders of the faith found themselves exhausted, pizzed off and simply given up hope?

Or is everyone now happy?

The unmentionable one, by definition, didn't get mentioned very much. FatPilot is referring to the one a bit further North.
Having PPrune banned in the UAE may have been a factor but there are also other ways of exchanging information now such as private Facebook groups - at least then you know you are communicating with other professional pilots.
Is everybody happy? I don't think so.

No a lot not happy.
FO don’t say anything, afraid of not getting upgrade.
New Capt’s won’t say anything as basically afraid too (DSVP / SVP like this as they get little hassle from them!)
so you could say yes, they’ve one!
Rosters rubbish, rarely get what you want or ask for.
DSVP is never heard from, SVP Flt ops does nothing to try to improve things, even though he knows what’s wrong.
Communication is one way - from top down, they don’t listen and don’t care,
Fleet management hide away and now don’t even show their faces at the traditional meeting at the end of the ground school day (4500 pilots and they can’t even take a moment to show their faces!)
Weekly fleet updates usually have a number of veiled threats and statements along the Lines of “you should be happy to be here”

From what I see lethargy is setting in, “what’s the point of saying anything, nothing will change” is the general attitude now.
The job gets done and is done safely but with little enthusiasm and you can see standards dropping from how they were not so many years ago!
who gives a damn has definitely become the new pilots motto!
we live for days off

I was referring to the Unconscionable, not the Unmentionable.

Where's the don, where's the outlaw, where's that silly yank who used to get all flustered and virtuous?

The malaise has spread.

they probably all went to better opportunities overseas. Over the course of 10 years Emirates went from a good option to woefully underpaid and over worked

EK started going pear shaped around 2008 when AS (shole) told the troops everyone would work to 92 hours as a temporary measure to get through the financial crises. Then, it was all BS from that point forward!

It is a poorly run company from a HR point of view and it will never change, just the nature of the beast. I peek in here very occasionally and have noticed all the squawkers (me included !) have left the site. I used to get worked up about the EK BS but realized one day that its just not worth the energy, EK is just not important enough. They hire from around the globe and you can be sure they will find who they are looking for out of 7 billion people!

Its been said here many times....be careful what you ask for...you just might get it! There are tons of jobs out there, the USA is begging for pilots. The Chinese have begun forcing some of their expatriate pilots on "indeterminate unpaid leave", I expect that the arabs will do the same in short order

There are those who are at EK and happy to stay...and those who left, and those who will

Good luck in your choice!

Done safely...... standards dropping.... which is it? Certainly didn't have my confidence things were done safely when I punched out... that's why I did. Safety reports are just loo roll for the bouncy castle in most cases. Lip service

Are you happy you left because you left the company or because you left the middle east? Been in 3 different companies so far in Western Europe and I cannot help but relate to everything I read on these forums because it would seem the entire aviation industry is just ruined

I am happy to have left EK the airline , then the Middle East in that order. I have no regrets. I found it to be a caustic environment. It changed me into someone I didn't like and I saw the same change in my friends...who then became former friends, they became assholes too. The place has a knack to bring out the worst in human behaviour. That was my observation and I'm sure someone will chime in and disagree, but thats OK!

I left EK to fly in a small commercial operation and I am having the best time of my career. I work with a small group of great guys, we all own small aircraft and fly for fun on days off...and days at work!

All I can offer for anyone who cares to hear my opinion is...make your career a nice place to be! You'll have to live in it for 40+ years.

All the best....Outlaw
