People leave and come back for all sorts of reasons but I wonder how many go to get their hands on the provident fund because they need the money for whatever reason, then come back because they didn't really want to leave (or had nowhere to go) in the first place?

You nailed it. After X number of years folks want to lock in those funds, not to mention put them to work in real investments not the scam underperformers in the Provident.

Not sure about under performing funds since you have a wide selection of options. A large majority needed the cash to give half away only to return to the Pit!

I counted 6 from BA to EK. 3 EK to BA.
BA don’t take DEC..... they leave ek for Korean, Turkish, Norwegian, Ryanair, easy, Jet2, Wizz and even flybe. A few FOs go to ba if still young enough.

Going from ba **mainline** to ek... only flew with one line guy on Boeing fleet who made that move and he was happy.
