EK: how many hours will you fly in June ?

Looking at this and all other threads re EK with with great interest as considering applying....
Ryr 737 - UK base
RHS
13 days flying
1 standby
1 safety day
83 hr flying which is about 110 hrs duty - I'll only get paid for the 83 hrs and paid in euros which has taken a huge hit against sterling in the last year or so - even more so now with the possibility of the UK leaving the EU.
13 days off
Out of interest, guys who are having between 8 and 10 days off a month how many times would you sleep in your own bed in that month?

(PS For Boom. Exactly half my flights took place between 2200-0800. I sleep in my own bed everyday except one. Duty time is about 7 hours more than you. Usually 10 hours spent in bed everyday. Hint. Ask for 330 when you come.)

18 days leave
3 days off.......
That's the least block I have done this year.
next leave is 5 (forced) days in Feb 2016. Exactly 30 days of vacation for FY. The other 12 off in limbo.
Jim's untimely demise is a warning to us all.

Wow! No offense but how can you guys stand to work in such an environment? 8-11 days off with all the ULH flying you do? I'd burn out after 90 days.
Is it all about the equipment you're flying?
To me this job is FIRST about schedule, then about pay, last about equipment.
I fly for a US legacy carrier. Our WB pilots average 19-20 days off WITHOUT any leave added. Senior NB pilots can do the same. Min days off is 12-13, most get 15-16 days off though.
I'm a NB captain and bid reserve (standby) yet I rarely get called up so I average 20+ days off if you include being on-call and not getting pulled out for a flight. When I get to my block off days it's always 12 days off in a row in a 30 day month, 13 in a 31-day month. Pay is usually credited out at 82-89 hrs in the above scenario.
For April/ May I took 60 days off by using 3 weeks vacation, my normal days off and a couple of strategic sick calls. I did fly one turn trip in the middle of all that just to avoid having to do a line check for when I came back from my block off.
You guys really need to wake up and demand more from your management. You're getting flogged with that kind of schedule. Damn! No wonder the upgrades are so quick at EK.
I'm curious, with all that work, what kind of take home pay in USD do your pilots typically average in a given month?

You can't compare legacy carriers to Emirates. Just because we fly the same equipment they are two different animals.
As a captain here I make about $1500 less a month than a widebody FO at a legacy. To qualify that I get a (very small) house and some of that money is tax free.
But as I said above there really is no comparison between the two airlines. Work rules, days worked, hours worked, time of day worked, treatment, attitude and salary are all better back home.
All of this for take home of about $12,200. If you equate that to an hourly rate I make what a 737 FO makes per hour back home. Can you see why the Americans stopped coming to the Middle East?

Before someone starts a registered charity for the ritually abused American pilots who labour unnoticed and unloved at Emirates, please do recall that by coming here they can save about $30,000 of tax by being outside the USA. Unless one has a wish to die horribly on a dusty freeway, run down and left to expire by some 18 year old thug, this is clearly not worth leaving home for.
I, on the other hand, dodge about $128,000 of home-country tax by being here and for that premium I am willing to dodge or ignore most of downsides.
The USA is one of the very few countries which taxes on citizenship, making little reduction in the tax bill in light of one's residency. It entirely changes the conversation. Rather than singing "should I stay or should I go", Americans at EK should be belting out "I'm so glad I'm living in the USA".

Yes you can save money on your taxes by living overseas 335 days a year (or by having a resident visa) but you still have to pay taxes in the U.S. If you include everything you will probably have a bill of about $30,000 to $45,000 depending on your write offs.
So as I said before when you include everything it is better at a U.S. Legacy.

Have to be careful not to tar everyone with the same brush fattie. I know quite a few North American fellas who are happyish with their lot and not contemplating returning due to age, or just being sick of being furloughed etc.
Just like any group, some fit in and make the most of it, and some can't. Hard to know how that is going to work until you try it I suppose.

For some it's not only about the hours, but rather the number of days worked (some not credited) and the hours. Cubicle dwellers complain they only have eight days off a month, but as it has been said before....visa renewal-during working hours, UAE id renewal-during working hours, visit to one's manager-during office hours, sorting out HR issues-during working hours, dental or medical hours-sorted during office hours, etc, etc, etc. so how often do we as flight crew members do "work related" issues on our off days. But all this is old news.
