You can't compare legacy carriers to Emirates. Just because we fly the same equipment they are two different animals.
As a captain here I make about $1500 less a month than a widebody FO at a legacy. To qualify that I get a (very small) house and some of that money is tax free.
But as I said above there really is no comparison between the two airlines. Work rules, days worked, hours worked, time of day worked, treatment, attitude and salary are all better back home.
All of this for take home of about $12,200. If you equate that to an hourly rate I make what a 737 FO makes per hour back home. Can you see why the Americans stopped coming to the Middle East?
