4 holer hits bridge at YYZ
So I've been informed a whale has ran into a bridge at YYZ. The bridge was parked in the wrong position apparently (A6-EDZ). Its also on EK Source

It is not called a whale!
The 747 has been called a whale for years. This plane looks nothing like a whale! Come up with another name! I like the flying vagina....ugly on the outside but feels good on the inside!

Whale=747 not for just years but for almost a half century. The 380 does in fact look a bit like a Beluga whale...so how about "the Beluga" if you have sensitivities or want to be PC with regard to the above, that is. But "whale"? sorry that's almost sacrilegious.

Feel for the crew, could happen to anyone
This might serve as a small warning sign. After all the skipper will remain responsible for such incidents, no matter what Joe, Bill or Dick manipulated the bridge or the vagina!
Imagine someone got hurt or killed on the bridge, how do you think your case would hold up in court in the US, especially if it turned out that you left with CD from Dubai already ....
Be careful out there, especially these coming days.

Crew will always be removed from roster while investigation proceeds, that's standard here and not reflective of blame. Previous incidents have resulted in no dismissal and so it shouldn't unless a clear case of negligence is evident.
So, before we all jump around like headless chickens, just wait until the feedback is forthcoming from the Company. As for that last comment Padawan, I'm not sure what you're implying? Maybe similar to those 'clever' guys on the B777 that can say they've single engined taxi because an engine is shut down 4m from the gate?
Do that all the time, you deserve what you get. Either do a single engine taxi because you can or don't do it. It's not compulsory, neither is it unsafe in appropriate circumstances.

In fact Harry the company has a track record of summary dismissal following events and prior to any proper investigation or even inducing "resignation" with gross levels of psychological pressure and fear tactics. The fact that in a number of events the crew were subsequently reinstated following an examination of what actually happened doesn't change that.
There doesn't seem to be any headless chicken jumping here except in your post.
Absolutely spot on.

I would not have disagreed with that observation about 3-4 years ago. Without wishing to sound as a Company apologist, I would not agree with that now. Since JA has taken over from Useless Ed, nobody has been dismissed for events such as this.....and we have had some.
The Company has realised sacking people aka Qatar airways is not good for recruitment and, considering the National culture of blame that pervades in this region, have done a reasonable job in achieving that.
I will standby to be corrected if evidence proves otherwise.

I'm assuming the crew followed the VDGS as everyone always does. If they confirmed the correct aircraft type as we always do, then they are not to blame. How can anyone judge proper gate positioning on an airplane the size of the 380. I understand if the gate trucks are in position on the little circle or square etc...
There is no published guidance for gate positioning in YYZ and as close as YYZ is to Khartoum operationally, I am sure there is an element of trust in the guidance system provided by the GTAA.
If the crew gets spanked by EK, then every time I am slightly unsure of how close the gate is, I will stop and request a tow in or marshaller guidance (as per OM_A). Even during the ****show in DXB we are about to witness.
