(EK) R.I.P. Company FC Mailboxes

If I have read the company email correctly, it appears that out pigeonholes will be no more in 2014. A couple of questions come to mind.

-How do we get envelopes of money, or things that are left behind in the flight deck to our fellow colleagues now? In the past I’ve just dropped it in the guy’s FC. I’m not going to drive all over Dubai when it is so much easier and convenient to use HQ.

-It appears that we can’t receive Utility phone, or bank statements after Feb 2014. Do we now all have to go and buy a PO Box just to get our local mail? I really don’t want to switch to digital bills either, having the paper ones gives me something to read on the car ride home , moreover, I really don’t want to have to shell out the extra cash for a mailbox.

Any solutions you might have. or a heads up on other issues that might arise from our lack of FC box would be appreciated.

Another day, another new queue to join at the end of a flight, after the wonderful laundry experience, this could be the cherry on top.
Your time is theirs to waste

Least the mailroom is open 24hr not like the old one...

Anything that will fit through the slot in the red mailbox can still be sent via company mail. Get the address from the mail collection guys but I think for internal mail its just name, FC mailbox number...

You've lost sight of the objective:

Fuse - it's going the same way that CC mailbox's are going which were made fully redundant as of start this month I think. Well it was Oct or Nov.

As far as I know CC are also upset about this, the reason having spoken to an MCC who's a friend is that the space just doesn't cut it anymore, but to be fair - why not use the CC mailboxes for F/C?
My personal opinion is that they don't want people dropping things off etc Another way for EK to upset/annoy/drag and convince people that EK is out for them.
The mailboxes are such a useful thing I think, most airlines worldwide of this size will have mailboxes.
I will say though that its another cost saving measure, another penny pinching incentive by EK Senior Mgmt.
RIP mailboxes

Didn't you guys read the whole email?

The new rostering system is going in where the mailboxes are. The SUPERCOMPUTER that will make your wildest dreams come true by spitting out immaculate rosters will be where the FC mailboxes currently are.

All the schedulers whose job it is for manual insertion will be where the CC mailboxes are... ...and there's space for a lot of desks there.

But the supercomputer program won't be ready for 18 months. EK must have hired the genius who put together the Obamacare website to implement this software. Really? 18 months? Some priority. I guess that is how long it takes to completely screw up perfectly good software.

They will get you paying for private mailboxes, thereby contributing to the Dubai Inc money merry-go-round as well as cutting down on EK staff costs at the same time.

The good news is they will keep the mail centre and the laundry at opposite ends of the building so our fat pilots wil be able to work their BMI down by being made to walk the full length of the place twice.

And it pisses off and inconveniences the pilots, another general objective, so they kill several birds with one stone.

It appears that EK has stolen a page from QR this time.

Turn around is fair play
