Qatar Airways is by far the best airline I have worked for
Having worked for 3 airlines within the GCC, and being a Kuwaiti national, I can tell you that Qatar Airways is simply a great airline to work for.
Initially I thought it was just easy on me because I was a GCC national, and more "accepted", but that was not the case.
Everybody is treated the same in this airline.
Just because 50 guys complain on this forum, do not change your minds about QR.
Sure they have a strict set of rules.
Abide by them or don't come to QR.
Do so, and it's the best airline you would have ever worked for.
Opportunities for advancement, good pay, and nice desitnations.
Doha is not a bad country itself.
Has it's downside, but you can get used to it.
I only made this thread so that the few people that complain over here, don't ruin others chance on a great career.

I'm not aware how much exposure you had to airlines outside the Gulf, but it must be satisfying being content to be in an airline where you feel you belong.
Congratulations - and I mean that without prejudice.
The public musings of the chairman and the stories I hear while flying the line do little to instil confidence in working for Qatar Airways.
One of my senior F/Os told me of his girlfriend, who flies as a flight attendant for Qatar and who are threatened with dismissal if they don't clock into their accommodation 12 hrs (I believe that's what he said) before their flight.
There are not many countries where an employer could pull this sort of stunt.
But then again - I'm happy too to be where I am (and it ain't Qatar).
In my experience there are only two types of airlines:
Those that are really fun to work for and that usually won't last, and
those where you sometimes wonder what the hell management is thinking, but that continue to pay the rent...
Call me a cynic, if you want....

GCC, you should not drink and post on pprune. Probably cause you wear the same funny outfits they do the local Indians kiss your butt. Doha is the ugliest place on earth beside somalia, so go back to your dades, shisha and hitting your head on the floor 5 times a day, and leave this forum for pilots please

Fubaliera, of all the crazy asses in this hate-forum, you certainly win the cake everytime. Your mentality and the way you think is what breeds hate and racism. I wonder why PPRUNE moderator dont get you banned. lol
GCC, pprune is a hate forum. Basically, a bunch of lunatics who nag about everything, and everyone. Nothing informative really, an occasional topic about an incident (which then gets commented on how stupid, backwards, and idiotic Arab culture is, yes im being sarcastic)... I feel sorry for the few who actually do have something useful to say like yourself. Thats it basically شتبي في هل دبش اللي هني وهلا فيك في بلادك قطر..

"La caravane passe et les chiens aboient"
"let the world say what it will"
and yes QR is a great company for some people and bad for others not everyone can make it but most of the pilots the real one not like this guy they are smart enough to fly, get experience, getting paid, flying brand new airplanes and moving when the pasture will be greener elsewhere for them.

GCC "everybody is treated the same in this airline"?!
Don't forget the senior guys stuck on the A-320 fleet, contemplating other guys much more junior than them in this airline going straight on 330, being upgraded on 330..777.. enjoying good rosters, going home every months as they get 5..6...7 8 days off in a raw..while the poor senior guys on 320 are struggling with their minimum days off and their crappy roster.Shall i also mention the brave A-320 "dedicated CAT C pilots" who will never see any good layover on their roster!!!
NO GCC,Lets be honest and face the truth: NOT everybody is treated the same way in this airline, definitely not the 320 skippers!

Don't worry about Fuba.
He is being bitter about Qatar and Arabs due to his humiliating experience in Qatari jail which he deserves.
His statesments are not based on rational but emotional.
Ignore him completely or treat him like garbage.

Being wherever you are, no matter how brilliant the airline is, it's easy to make it feel like the worst. QR is a good airline to work for IMO. Pay is good, Doha is only becoming a better place to live, maintenance is brilliant, and I also agree that in general, everyone is pretty much on a level playing field in terms of how we get treated. At least we don't have as much racism and corruption as some of the other airlines in the region do. For the 20 or so people who are complaining all the time, you should put your efforts in to finding a happier place to work at rather than spending time over here talking about it... Oh well, to each his own...................

Really?
It's unfortunate you've made such ignorant remarks about another culture on this thread, for now they are impossible to retract. You must be proud of yourself? I wonder about your rationale though. Especially if you make your living or have made your living in Qatar or any other Gulf State.
You're hiding behind a veil of secrecy, you brave soul you. Which must make it easy for you to post such ignorant remarks. Or, are you someone who is just trying to stir the pot between East and West? There must be a motive...
AND, English is clearly NOT your first language so, who has a culture issue???
How then does that make you better? How then does that make you a better person? I'd be interested to know your rationale, especially if you're from "Murder City" as the location Motown would imply.
I, for one, as a white, anglo saxon, protestant, find your remarks disgusting and in poor taste.
I also think you are entitled to free speech in the expression of your opinion.
I just don't get it.

Fubilera you are not a pilot or should not be consedered an pilot if you talk rubbish like this . Fubilera just imagine how funny you look to others in your cloths .
GCC if you are Kuwaiti pilot sure you know one of your country mates who was Skipper A330 and married an QR cabin crew after what his legal wife was black listed to enter Doha and after a big issue involved pressure from above she was clear to enter Qatar but her housband Kuwaiti pilot wa sfired for any reason . Sure he don't feel same as you and sure he do not share your opinion .
Be realistic and admit QR is great airline with good potential but at moment is place with rate of resignations/terminations above any other airline in region ( there is even an department called resignation/termination department ) and it has very bad reputation amoung pilot community only becouse of 9 floor and people who try to setisfy this 9 floor by doing dirty job for him .
Why do you think an airline which raised salary for 25 % can not attract required number of pilots for their fleet ?
QR = Quick Resignation
It could be a real paradise but it become sad place where people get type rating and some $ and move on with nothing to remember then ACN's telling them what they are allowed and what they aren't .

Ronaldo330,
Yes I know who you are talking about, and I'm sure he doesn't share the same opinion.
I do agree that some try to satisfy the "9th floor" by doing this dirty job.
But like I said, QR has a set of rules unlike any other airline.
If you do abide with them, there will be no problems whatsoever.
Do not interfere or do anything you're told not to, you will have a happy career in QR.
You are the one that decides what kind of place you want QR to be, just keep an open mind.

Fuba....
Your racist garbage is awful. You complain about racism yet are clearly racist yourself.
Hopefully the mods will ban you.
You are a sad guy. Go home and play with your toys.

Hey Fab it is Doctor Phil again
Apparently the therapy didn't work as pre scripted, I see the sickness is deep an chronic.
So I decided to send to rehab for acute racism therapy followed by a 6 months as a lady boy in Bangkok streets.
That should cure you forever

Funnily enough, the last Bangkok flight I did with QR was with a Kuwaiti skipper, who was very fond of the ladyboys ... as soon as we arrived in Bangkok he was out the hotel door faster than a rat up a drainpipe, and he spent a good hour on the flight back to Doha explaining to me how great it was to get strings of beads pulled out of his @ss, and I shouldn't knock it until I've tried it
Seriously - it should be very obvious to everyone, that the experience that a Kuwaiti will have working in QR and living in Doha is very very very different to the one that a non-muslim western person will have. Just like it's very different to the one that an Indian or Filipino will have. So different in fact that it's virtually incomparable.
