Emirates thought about it but thought better of it. After all it burns 10% more fuel and carries 15 less people than the LR and 100 less pax than the ER.
Also the Airbus fleet does not have enough manpower to cover the long haul operation.

Both LAX on the 777 bids for October, if that means anything. Second IAh only starts 1st of November. Manpower issues on either fleet may swing things of course, regardless of fuel burn or pax capacity issues.

I heard a rumour that some of the 300ers coming next year had more thrust and a significantly increases MTOW.
That would certainly help on West Coast flights.
Do any Gurus know if this is true?

.... actually at our washup they said they had wanted to put the 345 into LAX and HIA..... but surprisingly enough there wasn't the crew available to do ULR flights. Their words.
Planning wonderful thing when it's done with a longer visionary period than a month.

Having engineering coverage may also be a problem at the further US points if the 345 were put on the runs.
And let's not forget the freight that would be left behind.

Halas,
I know the 200lr has a bunch of fuel tanks in its belly, but is that really going to make it leave cargo behind?
Wish they would put the 12 1st class seats into it like the bus, much better for staff travel.

300ER into LAX with an early morning arrival?
Will certainly be interesting; LA often has low cloud first thing...the numbers must be pretty interesting given it's a bit of a stretch for the 300ER anyway, let alone with fog just about every morning. Perhaps it'll work with an early morning departure over the winter...but I would have thought it'll right up at Max structural TOW, and still be payload limited and fuel critical.
Give me the 200LR 0820 departure anytime!

I have a buddy who operates out of Long Beach. There's no problem with weather in LAX period. A bit of low cloud in the morning is no biggy. Plus, there is a Cat 3B approach. It is however 150nm longer than KSFO (from OMDB)so hopefully no decision point plans...!
