If you go for an interview with an electronic logbook, they not only want the last three pages in paper form for themselves, but they want the whole thing printed out, and they want every page stamped by your current and previous employers.

Yes every page. Remember to include all the landings in figures to.

Anything specific to study for the skype interview or is it just basic HR questions and them trying to asses your motivations for joining QA?

As always you want to make a good impression but the main purpose of the Skype interview is to conduct a very basic English assessment

Hello all, did my assesment for DEC airbus in July las year, been swimming in the holding pool ever since, today I received an email asking if I would be interested in a position with Amiri Flight, I couldnít find anything recent on them, can anyone shed some light?
Is the pay the same? Are the benefits the same?
Does this mean I basically screwed up my assessment and Iím now being offered this as a consolation prize?

thanks in advance,

DV.

Your 10k a month is not quite accurate.

1st. Cost of living in doha is extremely expensive beyond the costs if you wish to compare EU for instance and Qatar is not a great place to live, the quality of life is pretty low, very expensive a place taylor made for the locals that have a lot of money but not for normal working people
2nd. For you to make 10k take home, most likely you will fly 777 with rosters based on 90 to 110 hrs per month, It is pretty exhausting giving the jet lag and short layovers plus minimum rest at home, you'll barely see your family
3rd. Savings capability, consider you have a family with 2 children, yes they pay for schooling however just tuition, schools are ridiculously expensive in Doha, and quality is not the best, any additional costs you will pay for them. (There has not been any conscious salary increase for the past 4 years that can cope up with the cost of living in Qatar)
4th. Lack of opportunity for your wife. The Mrs most likely will stay at home and becomes a real problem after a while. They get really bored and to get a job is quite difficult there is no protection against sexual harassment and other issues, there has been lots of cases about that

When you refer to the 10k a month you need to see the whole picture

For A320 FOs...any ideia of how the rosters look like? As it seems like in the website, as an a320 FO Im selectable for both A320 or 330/340. Any chance to be selected for the wide ones? What about upgrades on those fleets right now?

Rosters on 320 seems to be quite good and their time to command is the shortest among the fleets. Reg. fleet change to wb, it's all down to what's needed at the moment. Hard to tell.

Is there any chance to stay on 320 fleet or pilots are forced to go to wide body? Thank you!

I would like to provide an alternative view of Qatar to colofly72

First a disclaimer - I am not a pilot & don't work for QA so cannot comment on them as an employer. However I first came to Qatar in '91 and since then have spent over ten years living in Doha split over three separate contracts.

Quality of life is generally good and its one of the safest places my wife and I have lived. Prices are different compared with the rest of the world - some things like petrol & prime steak are inexpensive but others like accommodation are high. There are world class sports facilities and good international schools along with a superb museum but since its a small country you will need to travel regularly if you get bored easily.

Finally if they want, there is plenty for ladies to do. Maids are very affordable so they are free to work (until recently my company employed a Serbian, an Indian & a Jordanian ladies as engineers in our small division) or to join with one of the ladies social groups. Some women drive (like my better half) but for those that find the traffic an issue Uber & similar services its easy to get around without the need to drive.

What is the time to go command for A320 guys in that case? Is it directly after three years within QR if you meet the hours?

The Airbus guys from my batch got their command last year in around 3.5 years. The Boeing lads currently wait around 4.5 years.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before, but what is the deal with accommodation in Doha when joining Qatar?

I understand that when you join you are automatically placed in company accommodation (thus not getting the housing allowance) and you have to apply to leave so you can find your own place. This can take many months depending on circumstances.
Can anyone confirm this, or add any more information?

Thanks in advance,

FBW

yeah apparently now all new joiners are automatically sent to company accommodations and what I heard that the waiting list to leave the company acc. Is pretty long some I know been waiting for more than a year and unfortunately they have 2 waiting lists one to leave the company acc. And the other to move to a different location in Doha but still in company acc.
unfrotuantely you can only be listed in 1 list so you need to choose which one.
Rumors the only way to leave the company acc. And get your housing allowance is to buy an apartment and show the proofs but again I am not 100% sure.

What are the chances to get on the 777 when applying with 1.000 hrs on the B737NG as a first officer? (Are applicants with lower hrs always planned for the 787 or do I have a chance to get the 777 rating?)

And do low hours in the logbook mean, that I have to wait longer in the holding pool?
