Emirates orders 747-800

Just off the wire Emirates orders 10 GE powered 747-800 freighters for delivery 2010/2014.

No need for the 380 freighter now

No Need for the 380 at all ;-)

When they order the 787-10's and the pax edition of the B747-800.

Still it is a rumour network !!

The 747s just may be the first Aircraft with remote basings similar to a CX deal.
Crews in that case would be all direct entry..................

THe aim will be to use our own pilots to fly the new Boeings. At the moment Atlas is on our AOC. We have also picked up 2 more 747-400 freighters. It may be that we will fly the new aircraft and I guess Atlas will keep on with the aircraft they are currently flying. Until they are not needed any more. Thats for the future though.

Why would they let us fly it?? Listen to all the whinging around here, they are sick of all the negative vibes from us and will give it to Atlas or someone else who deserves it UNLESS......

we all start doing some crawling and begging.

I for one have always supported the various shaftings we've had aministered to us. I still lament the demise of That CK and I even wish Kevin Bloody Wilson would come back to the flight ops.

PS I believe they refer to it as the B747-8......

Well Rabbitwear, I would think that as per most airlines EK pilots fly EK aeroplanes - and Atlas guys fly Atlas "airplanes". Of course with the two 310 freighters Emirates has had a stab now at wholly freight operations...

White Knight It cannot possibly be sour grapes that I smell because that would imply that I applied to join EK and was rejected which is not the case.
I did a few years back when DEC's were talked about because of the ex SQ 340's express mild interest in EK because I assumed ( wrongly as it happened) that EK required DEC's for short term contracts whilst they got their act together promoting from within and would offer T & C's such as block days off and contract salaries. When I discovered that this was not the case and that one had to live in Dubai and join just a few increments up on the Captain's scale my interest fell rapidly to Zero

As for the smell of DEC's for the 747-800 no sour grapes my end dear boy as I will be retired by the time they arrive in EK. I suggest you check your nose again
