Emirates type rating & JAR

Hi, can anyone please inform me if on joining Emirates & gaining a type rating, will the T/R go on your local UAE ATPL & can you also get the T/R on your UK ATPL and or JAR ATPL.

If after joining & things do not improve I want something to show for my 3 years in the dessert !

Thanks in advance.

When submitting all the relevant checkforms and simulator certificates you will get the TR on your JAA license with a note " valid on Emirates Aircraft only".

Only when you find a JAA TRE who is willing to sign all the relevant JAA forms then that co-notation will be taken of.

Good luck

Future,

To get the type rating put on your JAR licence in the UK you will need:

1. 500hrs on type,
2. a sim check with a JAA examiner in a JAA approved sim,
3. a current JAA Class One medical,
4. proof of completing an approved technical ground school course and
passing a technical exam on the aircraft type,

Then pop along to Aviation House at LGW, sit around for a few hours and they will do it for you. I think they charged me 100 quid for it, but can't be sure.

Oh, by the way a UAE ATPL is worthless outside of the UAE.

If you are prepared to arrange it your self a TR is no real problem. The CAE sims are all JAA approved. I did my 330 UK/JAA LST a couple of years ago, there is a JAA Airbus 330/340 TRE who comes out to DXB about 4x a year. He will do the check for a fee and the sim costs are best shared between as many as can be got together. You will not get a JAA recognised TR from EK directly, as has been said before, but you do get credit for the Ground School and Tech Exam (ARB in the 'good old days').

PM me if you need more details.

I have recently put the B777 on my JAR licence. I applied to the CAA to give a 30 day dispensation to the TRE doing your OPC/LPC. They will require the certificates (copies) of both the 200 and 300 simulators to prove they are JAR compliant. The Dipensation will cost you 90 GBP. They will then send paperwork to the TRE and have him fill this out. Both you and him will have to get together to sign the relevant paperwork. The paperwork will then be sent back to the CAA. You will then be sent a certificate which is valid for 30 days (during the month which your PPC is being done.) The LPC/OPC will be conducted after which you will then have to send the CAA your lastest logbook which should have at least 500 hours of B777 time in. You need to send a copy of your UAE licence certified by the company as well as a copy of your UAE medical. You have then to also send your JAR licence and JAR medical. Finally 109 GBP. I also had to send a further 119 GBP to renew my JAA licence. (in order to renew a licence you have to be current on type or as I did put the type rating on the licence) The previous rating is good for 5 years from your last OPC/LPC if you are just renewing your licence. If you can be bothered with all the bureaucracy you will will finally be sent a JAR licence with the B777 on. Good luck.
