Emirates information sought.
Hello chaps, I'm researching a small academic piece on Operations Strategy in the airline business...does anyone know if there are any books published on Emirates? Doesn't have to be an academic textbook, just something for a bit of background. Haven't been able to find much out there.

looking for emirates info
hello everyone, regarding emirates! i have trying to get an interview with them for a long time, i do not meet their heavy time requirements so when i update i always get the same reply of the thanks but not yet type of thing. i have about 7000hrs, most of that is turbine command and i have about 400hrs os jet time on a cessna jet all of it sic time, i am just having a hard time understanding how they can find and hire people with those requirements!!
the more i read about the airline the more i would like to joint them, is there perhaps an email or phone number of a person that works there that i could start using for help?
i recently began reading things about emirates on this website and it sounds like they make you work a lot! is that the way it works?
i work in the the us for a fractianal and will very soon begin working 7on and 7off, they make you work quiet a bit during that time, it's not a bad place to work but i'm a little living here and would like to get closer to europe where i'm from, although not having the jaa ratings and not really wanting to get them i have been looking in middle east.
i would like to find out how can i get an interview!!! and how is the interview process?

Along a similar line to Athens71's post; Is there any word on the street regarding lowering the requirements ie back to what it was a few years ago?
There seems to be lots of talk about Pilots leaving, people not turning up to courses etc but your buying Jets willy nilly and some people are wondering where your going to get drivers. I have checked the website regarding min requirements and I know it says JET time...do they count turbo-prop? Not that I'm looking of course, I know this Guy...and his Wife really likes the heat

There is no magic wand to the process, if you meet the requirements then you get a chance to interview.
You just keep plugging away and try to get the experience necessary.
Who knows what the future will bring. Lot's of aluminium on its way from both Seattle and Toulouse.
Someone has to fly them.
Good luck to you both, and just remember, not just Emirates is hiring pilots.

The only thing I can suggest is that you keep trying since the Emirates pilot pool is starting to dry up and they are taking less experienced guys to fill the seats. RE the interview process, I bit the bullet and bought the guide emiratesinterview.com. I wonder if it's worth going, after reading all the hoops I have to jump through and the contract and all???
Like PITA states, "and just remember, not just Emirates is hiring pilots" he is correct, you have Qatar and Etihad as the main carriers that are worth applying to.

a couple of weeks ago, , a new book about EK was launched during the airshow. Not sure about the name but it's basically about the history, early days and so on. Don't think it'll say much about operations strategy though.

I have had an application with Emirates since 1995. I just got a call to interview with them in Jan 06. For now I have declined. My current experience is 737NG Capt for a major airline in the U.S.
10,000 plus hrs (B737NG/B717/CRJ/B-737-200/DHC-6/CE-500/B-727/A-300B4/ATR-42/BE-1900C). The F/O pay is quite low(60K) and upgrade is a minimum of 3 yrs. Capt pay is 90K.

Suggest you all keep reading the posts about EK. DONT leave a FIRST world job and go to a THIRD world airline, THIRD world management and THIRD world people.

Hi nimrodcatcher, well it looks like you thread has been well and truly hijacked by wannabees. Don't know of anything in book format, but it is worth having a read through theAnnual reports on the emirates.com website. They are surprisingly full of useful information

Chance of getting EK interview call
Hi;
I am a CRJ 200, 700, 900 Captain with a regional US airline. Also former miltary jet pilot. I speak Arabic flunetly and have TT4500, 2800 hrs airline time (PIC+SIC). Also a degree in Aerospace Engineering and Computer Science, flown the ERJ-145, B1900D, F-5E/5 and T37B.
I applied to Emirates 2 years ago and when ever I update I get the generic email that says, that I am in the interview pool, but no date yet. I really want to join badly. Is there anyone out there that got called for an interview with similar time and experience as me?
Also, any info how to prepare for the interview will be appreciated. Thanks in advance and hope all is well. Cheers!
