I'm still not sure what PB is on about (not for the first time!) but the utilities allowance is part of our pay package- you either get company accomodation or the money and sort out your own accomodation. Why does it matter what you do with it, any more than it matters what you do with the rest of your salary?

Or maybe I didn't understand the question?

PB...what are you smoking mate...is that the reason for the driving ban? You might be management with reasoning and communitive skills like this.
The housing allowance is less than what the company is paying for the place they put me up in, so those taking it are actually saving the company money. The FAT CAT has well and truely eaten any cream that was being made by the provident fund (that we have to pay into), and I think after chatting to a work mate that has been here for over 17yrs...it might buy a nice car and holiday on leaving!!!
The free ticket home once a year is a given with most salary packages in this part of the world, and yes we do get to buy other ones at other times. You would, though, have to have some time off, and plead with the company to get permission to leave DXB first before being able to use these tickets.
As you can see the package is so great that the recent pay cut was really just the cherry on the top.
Would you like to let us know of your salary details now?

Don what about the free round the world ticket every year for life when you retire?

I thought the provendent fund was voluntary and you can opt for the normal UAE laws of end of service benifit if you do not make more loot with the fund offer?

Recent pay cuts! Rumour has it DDF is bailing out EK group with a good cash flow. Another villa on the palm for the "We Irishman"maybe!

DDF is the multi award winning Retailer Dubai Duty Free which started from "humble beginings" flogging very Cheap booze!

Don

EK management should take your "Barrow Boy Brokers" Mondial to task the way they have "miss" managed your investments!

GM Nigel Gregory is still driving around DXB in his sports car! Must have taken his "Cream Commission" in advance before the crash!

Not smoking these days as even with a shaved head you can not get away with it!!!

PB,
If you serve more than 15yrs and retire at not before the age of 55 for some and 60 for others, and do not work for another airline, yes you can get a space available ticket, on EK.
And you have heard wrong. The provident fund is not optional, it is compulsary.
If you are so unhappy with your lot in life PB that you think you need to try and prove how better the pilots have it than yourself, I suggest you get off your arse, and do something about it. Or are we to hear the "I am a coal miners son...and don't I have it hard...." crap.
Am still waiting to hear your salary package.

I am guessing that DDF is Dubai Duty Free.

Pink Baron, I didn't know you were the local employment law expert, so enlighten me, what the heck do you mean about UAE laws and end of service benefit?

I sense a small chip on the shoulder?

You are not related to albatosser2004, because you are certainly talking the same crap he does. I take it you dont work for the company, have decided you are hard done by and now want someone else to take it out on.

I have been flying a long time. My first job paid about the equivalent of 50,000 dhs a year. The longer I stay in this career the more I get paid. But you know we all work hard for it. You could have done this job, it takes commitment and common sense. The common sense being that it pays quite alot. The down side is that we all have had to make big sacrifices to have this lifestyle. Tell me if a brainsurgoen is checked every 6 months. In fact adding it up we all have between 5 and 6 checks a year until we retire. The trouble is, if we screw up we loose our jobs.

Is your job like this ?

Well said Uplink. Looks like a brain surgeon would have difficulty finding any cerebral tissue to work on in PBs case.

A wind up merchant worth ignoring.

Don

I am very happy with my "Lot" but did not follow the path of a miners son Pile!

My salary package has all the usual perks biz airfares, stock options, bonuses, index linked pension. Villa in Jumeria with the Julians & Janes Company car with a driver as any Executive Manager would have just like you High Speed Composite Managers.

Mini

You have to be up todate with the UAE Laws to ensure your employees are getting their correct dues! No chip pleased EK are giving you good "Perks"

Uplink

Pleased to hear you are having your medicals every 6 months nice to know that EK pilots do not have "Fatty Livers"& TT 8 hrs before you fly! Then again if you croak while airborn the plane will Auto Land fly by wire. Yes hard work we lived in Tents in Kuwait in the old days and went home on cargo ships!

If you screw up you loose your jobs. You are a atta boy untill your first F up! Then again the Training Captain might have lost his position training but still Commands a respected position with EK. Father in law in the right place?

Albatosser 2004 he could have a few points!

EK is part of the "Vision" for Dubai! How many EK employees have left????

Pink Baron, thanks for the great wind-up, fortunately most of our colleagues, bar but a few are beyond such petty pastimes and generally have much more useful things to do in their lazy lives.

By reading your posts and trying to understand the various thought processes involved I think you should still be living in a tent and going home on a cargo ship!

Where I come from we have a great saying for folks like you "Ag Shame".

Have a nice life and thanks for the great entertainment value of your sad posts.

P.S Are you of the fairer clan by any chance with a name like Pink Baron?

PB,

Don't tell everyone, they'll all want to come to Dubai. I got really p*ssed off the other day in Monaco. I nearly didn't make EK 001 to LHR. Life is a bitch for us commuters. My new first off the line private EH-101 burst a tyre on the Helipad of my 1000' private yacht. My own fault, left a broken champagne bottle out after a night with the Formula One umbrella girls.

Fortunately help was at hand. I phoned up the Airline Centre in Dubai and got on to Payroll Accounts. They told me bad news first that I wasn't eligible for the housing allowance because there were no slots. But....they came through because I am now able to claim the new Obsolete Supersonic Aircraft Buying Allowance. 2 Faxs later and a crew was being dispatched to Manchester to pick-up my new Concorde. The blokes flying it were great, both ex-BA mates that said they were going to come to EK to feather their nests on the back of a few passed over F/Os.

Anyway they whisked me back to Dubai and I had time to get picked up by my Chaufeur in the gold plated rolls, shag the wife, mistress and girlie, get a shower and make it back to the airport in time for briefing. Sent Concorde to Moscow to pick up some caviar with the £40,000 overnight allowance that they gave me on arrival at the slip hotel.

I'll tell you, you can't beat the life of an EK pilot. Money to burn, great allowances, girls, girls, girls.......Sh*t..,sorry about that just woke up. Hope the F/O didn't notice me drooling....... NOooooo it wasn't a dream, it was real! Why do the spell Bombay with an M anyway?!? No wonder I can never find the bloody charts. Why can't I see the sun....
