EK time to promotion

A little bird told me that someone in HR recruitment did a projection and it would seem that there is the likelyhood that non accelerated upgrades may take as long as 5 years and not the 3 as stated by our exulted SVPO at the pilots meeting. APPARENTLY he/she was moved upwards/sideways soon after.

Before you start it is only rumor, and I am not sure how many pilots this will affect but I wouldn't be surprised if it were true to a point.

People, please do not try and compare time to upgrade with your company to EK, a lot of people have come here for the quick upgrade, and yes I know things can change, however............

The DEC suituation is a joke according to a lot of the TRI/E's doing the training, the levels of ability being shown by SOME are v.low.

Apparently a lot are failing selection only for the upper management to overrule recruitment. This has been prob done for several reasons but I think this one is they most likely. Bring in an FO=1batch of training, upgrade the FO=2nd batch of training, replace upgraded FO=3rd batch of traiing.................................1xDEC=1 batch of training= money saved=FO's v.pissed off=low morale.

Now if EK had no suitable FO's to upgrade fair enough, this is NOT the case there is a wealth of experience and ability within the FO ranks who are more than capable of upgrading.

ps. I am not an FO & 411a spare me your rhetoric.

Hard hat on awaiting replies

Doesn't take quantum physics knowledge to work out that the time to command will, from now, become longer and longer.

SecurID, absolutely, the management did say that the DEC's arrival would not affect present FO's time to upgrade. This will be true off the pilots who are ready for upgrade now.

The point in the seniority list at which the increased no.s of DEC's will adversely affect upgrade will surely move up with time, ie. towards the more senior FO's.

In fairness to the co. it has decided to take on board more a/c than was projected. However, they are planning to recruit 80-90 DEC per year for the next 6'ish years.

Therefore let's say 85capt/year x 6years= 510capts approx / 8 capt per a/c = 63.75 a/c!!!!!!!!!!! This fig will obviously be slewed by the requirement for heavy crews etc.

Interesting.

Sluggums,

Emirates has a wealth of experience in the RHS and is recruiting low ability DEC . Who is going to join EK to sit in RHS for 5 yrs, then be bumped by DEC'S...Dragon Air looks much more appealing

Where to from here then?

Emirates seems to be fading fast as the 'perfect job.' It certainly is not the place that I joined six years ago. But where to from here?

A little off topic but to start a new conversation, I do not fancy Hong Kong, neither do I fancy Korea. So where in the world can an experienced wide body Captain go?

It is not just the company, I am worried sick about the school places in the very near future. The situation is bad this year, in two years time who knows?

As most of you will know, after seven years the provident fund is there for us to take and so with just under a year left, what are my options? I have been looking but there doesn't seem to be anywhere to go. Looks like I'll be sufferring the daily death defying drives on the SZ highway for a while longer

propaganda & sluggums' posts suggest that within Emirates' HR recruitment team there is a certain group that is at variance with the higher management's DEC programme. This group with vested interest has taken upon itself to rescue the company from the "assumed bad DEC policy". What this lot forgets is that it is in no position to question the higher management's competence or sincerity to make cost effective policies that ensure the company's viability. In imposing upon the candidates their unwillingness to accept company policy, by allowing bias or prejudice or vested interest to sway honest assessment certain EK recruitment and fleet personnel are in fact damaging the very company that sustains them. It is expected of the rebels in EK recruitment team to be above board and discharge their duties honestly and be worthy of the trust reposed in them. Many instances are being shared by EK would be DEC candidates who went through the entire selection process and after having performed well were wrongly denied a rightful place within EK. It is hoped that Emirates' higher management will rigourously investigate the deliberate misreporting to it of candidates' assessment, in order for EK recruitment to be judged as fair and transparent. This is definitely bringing a bad name to a good company and its competent higher management.

All those candidates that were invited for the selection process by Emirates and provided travel, accomodation, meals, transportation etc. and after having faired well in the selection process, were malafidely blackballed have the RIGHT

'DEC candidates who went through the entire selection process and after having performed well'..............

Who says they performed well? You?, The other candiates on your interview board? Thats not much of a sound judgement now is it?

No one has the 'RIGHT' to expect to be offered employment on their own diagnosis of their performance.......

albatross,

...wrong.

And with an attitude like that, you have displayed exactly why you were not selected. Good luck elsewhere, but hint - come down off your high horse before the next one.
