Initial Class I in another JAA state

Good day,

Anybody knows if having passed the initial class I medical in a state other than the UK, the CAA will accept it for the issue of a first licence, wether that is a CPL or ATPL?

Thank you to all of you who know.

JA.

Yes, they will.

For licence issue you will need to swap it for a UK one by paying GBP20, filling out a simple form and submitting a copy of your full medical report. So make sure you get it from the examiner.

Cannot remember if the AME had to fill out the form or you, so ask them before.

hope this helps, IP

Not sure if this one is really on-topic, but I think so:

I (Dutchman) did my Class I Initial -succesfuly!- in Holland, now education plans changed to Germany and it looks like I have to re-pass my medical again. Thats going to cost me a lot of euros (500) again..

Anyone here experienced in such issue? Can the Ducth medical possibly be taken over by German medical centre? Thanks for helping me on this.

As far as I know, as long as it's issued by a JAA state then it is an acceptable medical.

It all depends on the state in question. The german authorities aren't very helpful and will want you to do their own medical. The CAA in the UK on the other hand are quite good and will accept another JAA states medical.

This whole medical thing is a pain in the proverbials.

Answer me this if you can, and maybe it's been answered before but it'd take me days to find it, there is so much about this subject but.....

Why am I allowed an FAA First Class Medical and theoretically could land a 747 at Heathrow and yet haven't got a snowballs chance in hell of getting a JAA Class One.......why are FAA pilots not banned from flying here (regardless of the 'only N reg'ed aircraft thing)?

Is it a case of if I ever get a long-haul job in the future that I will not be allowed to fly into the JAA zone? And if not, then why am I not recognised as being able to do the job and be given a JAA Class One??????

The crux of the matter is that if the 0,0000000000000000001% increased risk you pose to aircraft security does happen the Europeans have clean hands!

Thanks all for the response concerning getting a new JAA medical Class I when having passed the JAA medical class I already in antoher JAA state (for most of us this will be before training..).

My AMC is now checking possibilities, looking quite good so far. I will let you know the outcome -whether positive or negative- might be helpful for others, I hope so.. cheers.
