Italian Growth with New Bases, Routes and Frequencies

RYANAIR OPENS TWO NEW ITALIAN BASES (ALGHERO AND CAGLIARI), INCREASES ROUTES AND FREQUENCIES FROM ROME CIAMPINO
1 MILLION £5 SEATS FOR TRAVEL NOV- JAN


Ryanair, Europe’s largest low fares airline today (Tuesday, 21st October 2008) announced that it will open two new Italian bases in Alghero and Cagliari, in March 2009. These two new bases will create 8 new domestic and 11 new international routes to/from the island of Sardinia. Ryanair also announced that it will increase frequency to 5 daily return flights on the Rome-Milan route (from Nov 24th) and from Dec 4th it will add a new route with a twice daily Rome-Trapani service. Alghero and Cagliari become Ryanair’s 6th and 7th Italian bases with 3 new aircraft worth over $210m.

At Alghero, Ryanair will base 1 brand new Boeing 737-800 series aircraft, it will operate 18 routes to/from the North Sardinian city, delivering 1.2 million passengers p.a., sustaining 1,200 local jobs, and saving visitors to/from Alghero more than €130m over the high fares and fuel surcharges presently levied by Alitalia.

At its Cagliari base, Ryanair will start with 2 new based aircraft, offering 19 routes, delivering annual traffic of over 1.3m passengers, sustaining 1,300 local jobs and saving passengers over €150m, compared to the high fares and fuel surcharges presently levied by Alitalia.

These two new Italian bases will in 2009 increase Ryanair’s presence in Italy to 7 bases (Rome, Milan, Pisa, Bologna, Forli, Alghero and Cagliari) over 15 million passengers annually, which is sustaining 15,000 jobs at Italian airports and saving Italian consumers and visitors more than €1.5bn annually over the high fares and fuel surcharges being levied upon them by the Alitalia domestic monopoly.

The celebrate these two exciting new bases and routes, Ryanair today released 1 million £5 (all inclusive) seats for travel in November, December and January. These seats (which include all taxes and charges) are available for booking on www.Ryanair.com until midnight Thursday 23rd October next.

Announcing this Italian expansion, Ryanair’s Michael O’Leary said:

At a time when Alitalia and Air One are merging, increasing fares and raising unjustified fuel surcharges, the conditions for more Ryanair low fare growth in Italy have never been better. “This investment in two new bases in Italy, with additional domestic routes and frequencies from our Rome Ciampino base, means that Ryanair will continue to grow its domestic operations in Italy, in a market where Italian consumers have been ripped off for many years by Alitalia’s high fares, fuel surcharges and strike ridden services. Only Ryanair guarantees the lowest fares and no fuel surcharges in Italy, which is why Ryanair continues to be the fastest growing, and the largest airline carrying people to/from Italy. This expansion will allow Ryanair to replicate that success on Italian domestic routes, particularly to the islands of Sardinia and Sicily, which will lower the cost of travel for Italian consumers, as well as making it more affordable for millions more European visitors to travel to the beautiful islands of Sardinia and Sicily.

No e' solo un businessman che sa il fatto suo che sa leggere il mercato e le sue tendenze ed e' in grado di prendere decisioni in tempi brevi. Alitalia, Meridiana ed Airone hanno dormito sugli allori per anni beneficiando della 'continuita' territoriale', spartendosi rotte e passeggeri, infischiandosone di migliorare, servizio, frequenze e tariffe. Ben fatto ryanair.

Per quanto riguarda i posti di lavoro creati: perche' non provate ad inviare un CV a CAI e vededete cosa vi rispondono. Sicuro che stanno assumendo a man bassa con stipendi interessanti.
Alla fine dei conti non e' importante se chi ti paga lo stipendio e' un tuo compatriota, cio' che importa e'che tu sia in grado di pagare il TUO mutuo, mettere il cibo sul TUO tavolo e mandare i TUOI figli a scuola.

Aggiorniamo il 3d, è interessante. Allora:
  1. Ryan come previsto ha abbandonato FRL e si concentra sul BLQ. Pare che il mgmt local non abbia voluto rispettare quanto concordato preventivamente tra cui un allungamento delle opening hours dello scalo. L'aeroporto ripiega su IV che ne farà la sua base del "nord Italia". Strano concetto geografico quello dei siculi. BLQ gioisce, FR anche che così evita la split base. Prevedo tempi duri per Ghibli a FRL sul domestico.
  2. Ryan apre TPS e osserva con attenzione Comiso. Probabilmente all'inizio non sarà una base, a CTA non vogliono, non hanno interesse ad andare ma la Sicilia orientale sarà presto servita.
  3. Ryan metterà giù le ruote in Puglia. Anche qui problema di split base BRI/BDS discussioni in corso
  4. Ryan ha mandato a stendere quelli di TRN che facevano i difficli (ed ha aperto TPS). Non è dato di sapere i dettagli, ma pare che i "furboni" di TRN volevano "proteggere" AliOne, avere anche Blu Express (che ha aperto un 6x daily su FCO), più i soliti problemi economici. Non è escluso che per il nord ovest FR si appoggi adesso a CUF che è sponsorizzato dalla Regione e dai potenti politici locali. Oltre ai charter schedulati neve FR opererà su CUF da CAG, almeno fino a quando non cesserà la continuità territoriale su TRN

Alla fine dei conti non e' importante se chi ti paga lo stipendio e' un tuo compatriota, cio' che importa e'che tu sia in grado di pagare il TUO mutuo, mettere il cibo sul TUO tavolo e mandare i TUOI figli a scuola.
Insomma Francia o Spagna, basta che se magna...
