Depends if you’re paying £30k for a job and splashing it out on social media acting like there isn’t a pandemic

aviationvictim 14th Jun 2021 06:57

well, Ryanair seem to have both regulated contracts with union support in quite a few countries and the opposite in other countries.
A few years ago they were the ones to avoid but it looks like Wizz have taken a very
firm lead on that one although the ultra low cost Ryanair branch, Lauda seem to wanna join in the race.
Tricky isn’t it? Maybe the answer is to not sign a contract that pays you the same wage as McDonalds would do🤷‍♂️?

PBSniper 15th Jun 2021 13:32

Has anyone been to an assessment day holding a now rather defunct UK license? I applied last year prior to the day of reckoning on 31/12/20 and now am unsure whether it's worth the trip to Budapest in a few weeks just to be told to PFO when I had over my docs. Looking at the careers website it does state they want EASA...But am I right in saying though that they have a UK AOC and hence operate some 'G-' reg aircraft? Thanks in advance for any info or guidance.

Direct entry Captain

Does anyone know salaries for captains as of today? Am I to understand it’s some sort of confair contract?

A321drvr 15th Jun 2021 23:14

Confair Capt Basic is 42k per year. I'm not sure if they've changed the km pay. It was 0.062 EUR/km and per diem i think 60 EUR before covid. All taxes paid by the pilot.

gtaflyer 16th Jun 2021 00:16

Thanks A321drvr, any idea what selection criteria they using for new captains not the ones returning.

A321drvr 16th Jun 2021 01:50

No idea. However I'd rather drive a delivery van for half of this at home than fly for this outfit somewhere I can't even commute properly.

Busdriver01 16th Jun 2021 09:22

Does anyone know how it works for UK License holders / UK passport holders post brexit? Would that be a uk base only or are there other bases that would be options?

booze 16th Jun 2021 10:20

Hi. What i heard it's only Eastern European bases avail hence the EASA license req. to fly HA-reg. Cheers

FlyingStone 16th Jun 2021 10:29

Being based outside of UK requires the right to live/work in the EU (or that country), and I don't see many European countries issuing work visas for foreign pilots in the near future.

Sick 16th Jun 2021 11:09

And vice versa. But since the UK government is set on the destruction of UK based airlines, that's not much help to Brits

Jesus Christ what is the FO pay?!

A321drvr 16th Jun 2021 13:24

26k and 3cents/km. Not sure about the per diem.

Big_D 16th Jun 2021 16:57

Sick

Not really, as long as you are on at least £26k pa.

TTOTT 17th Jun 2021 10:31

The basic is 20,000€/year for Senior First Officers (1670€/month)

Banana Joe 17th Jun 2021 11:22

That's not the full story though, is it? You need to apply country multipliers.
In Italy a normal FO at the moment is netting 2500 euro per month with 30-40 hours per month.

calypso 17th Jun 2021 17:20

Wow, a full 2500 ? it seems quite a return on an investment of 125k just to get the licence

Banana Joe 17th Jun 2021 22:25

If you spent so much for your license the joke is on you 😂
Wizz is another joke, but not as bad as forking out 125k for a license.

chinese3NMofftrack 21st Jun 2021 07:44

PBSniper

Good morning mate,
It all depends if you want to be based in the UK or not. If you do, you should definitely go since they are looking like crazy for drivers who are legally able to work in the UK for WUK ( too many acs and not enough crew to fly them). If you're looking for other bases in WAH (wizz hungary group) the story will be a bit different and I'm not sure it is worth the trip.

Hope it helped.

PBSniper 21st Jun 2021 11:40

Thank you for the reply :ok:

This cannot be correct.... :ugh:

BarryMG 21st Jun 2021 14:43

It is, but you have to keep in mind that sector pay during a busy month can easily double the quote

Banana Joe 21st Jun 2021 14:43

Plus the country multiplier.

semmern 21st Jun 2021 20:00

BarryMG

Doubling a small number still gives you a small number.

Busdriver01 21st Jun 2021 20:12

Any ideas what the requirements are for SFO for a new entrant?

booze 21st Jun 2021 22:45

BarryMG

There is no sector pay, only basic+distance(in kms)+per diemxbase multiplier. Also cpts aren't getting their loyalty (extra per thousands of hrs spent in wizz) still. It's been removed until further notice, so it's not applicable.

Nick 1 22nd Jun 2021 06:44

If they keep firing all the senior captain they don’t need the Loyalty......:}

These are numbers provided flying a full scedule, 900hrs/year. The main differences are no local contracts for re-joiners, only Confair as well as no incentive for CPTs regarding their hours spent in the company atm.

I still don't get companies posting NET numbers. Calculating NET has a lot of variables depending on the country you live in, family status, etc. Smells BS to me especially with those Confair contracts.

Paddingtonbear 22nd Jun 2021 08:20

Imagine the Wizzair Airbus captain telling the bank mortgage clerk he earns £40k a year. He'd fall off his chair in hysterics.

Those figures are a prime example of what's wrong with this industry. Exploitation of the desperate is simply what it is.

Whitemonk Returns 22nd Jun 2021 08:23

A321drvr

Also I never understand people willing to sign a contract based on 'distance flown' or 'flight time' ... I want to know that if I'm downroute waiting for an engineer to turn up for 4 hours I'm still getting some sort of duty pay for it, even if it's minimal, not sitting there for free.

Busdriver01 22nd Jun 2021 08:59

Paddingtonbear

and yet, what are the desperate to do?

Paddingtonbear 22nd Jun 2021 09:22

Develop some self-respect perhaps? Takes some balls, mind.

Banana Joe 22nd Jun 2021 09:31

Has the landing pay gone?

Busdriver01 22nd Jun 2021 10:27

Paddingtonbear

Sadly self respect doesn’t pay the mortgage, or feed the kids. If it’s unemployment or ‘only’ £40k , I can totally see why people take the latter. I’m not saying I agree with companies paying that little, but I do understand why people take these jobs.

PilotLZ 22nd Jun 2021 13:18

You also need to compare apples to apples. Although all eyes here are focused on the few Western European bases, the majority of WZZ ops are from Eastern Europe and the Balkans. And pay over there is lower for all professions, not just for pilots - but so are living costs. So, it is still a decently paid job as per the overall standards of living in the countries where the majority of bases are. Moreover, most alternatives for pilots there aren't any better.

TTOTT 22nd Jun 2021 13:57

The tables above are wrong. (They refer to the old payscale / Pre-covid).
The new payscale is 30% lower. As mentioned previously, SFO: 20,000€ p.a. not 26,000€....

Yeah 23rd Jun 2021 08:07

booze

Yeah, this looks old...

gtaflyer 23rd Jun 2021 08:56

What is the base multiplier ? And what multiplier value for what base?

SissySkinner 28th Jun 2021 17:35

Hi all,

Has anyone attended a recent assessment day/days? Just wondering what to expect, has much changed?

Thanks in advance
