Yep, that’s about right.

Is this the basic FO salary that was pre COVID of 21k euros without the variables and and multipliers? Has that that been reinstated?

Wizz TIA-BER diverted to BUD today due to a technical problem, engine fire was reported according to ATC. The flight (along with another 26 legs in the last five days) was operated with a 23 years old A320 wet-leased from DAT (OY-RUZ). The crew shortage is not cheap for Wizz and its reputation is also at stake because of the leased vintage collection. This aircraft was the second 320 delivered to Wizz 17 years ago as HA-LPA.

Pretty much everyone expect a slowdown in travel throughout the winter. Hopefully nowhere near as big as what we saw last winter, but still considerable. If that happens, Wizz will be right-sized at best in terms of crews, come October. So, it's probably cheaper to lease external manpower for whenever it's needed that keep people on payroll year-round. Many airlines do that.

It is not cheaper, in the ultra low cost business model.
This is a crewing screw up, plain and simple. |
@PilotLZ
Maybe, if you plan it in advance (the costs would be still huge which is not very compatible with the mantra of "cash positive flying"). Doing it in a hurry after a week of cancellations put things to a different light though. Besides it does matter what you lease. |
Base closures from October. DTM is not surprising (every airline abandoned it, not sure what Wizz thought) but RIX had a long history with a lot of local crew employed.

They heard FR are coming to town and decided to bounce.
