Upgrade
Good Day all,
Thanks for sharing your experiences. (Bad or good) I read the entire thread and would like to have your opinion on the upgrade process. How long it normally takes for a new joiner F/O (3500 on type - 5000 total) assuming the company is happy with your work? |
Hi Feather, it will be really a matter of months to start the upgrade with your experience since captains are never enough and especially at this moment. If i remember well you will need at least 500 hours in the company and then, according to performance as you said, you might be already eligible for the upgrade
:ok: |
With them hours (Providing they are mostly jet hours) You will be upgraded after 6 months.
I think we are desperate for pilots this year! Good luck, It's not a bad company at all, You will fly a lot but there are lots of opportunity for career progression :ok: |
Thank you guys for your help ;)
Good fly! |
What are the internal upgrade requirements beside 500hr within company?
|
No further requirements. Depending on operational needs. This year 75 F/O's get an upgrade.
|
Isn't like 3800 factorized hours, or something similar?
|
Fast track upgrade
Hi guys
I am a line training captain on a Cl605 mtow 20.5tons, i have in excess of 5500 hrs however i dont have any airline time. I was contemplating the idea of joining wizz air although quite frankly i don t fancy too much the idea of getting stuck on the right seat - with a copilot pay - for a long time. So i was wondering if my factorized time is about 4850hrs based on the table posted on their website, how long would it take to get upgraded, provided that my performance will meet their expectations? Should i apply for a first officer position or wait a bit until i get the 5000 factorized hrs and then a direct entry captain position? Many thanks for your hints |
Judging from what's been written here in the past, I would be surprised if in one year you wouldn't start your upgrade course.
|
|
How would biz jet time be considered in that table? Airline short-haul or non-airline multi engine?
|
Non airline mlti engine.
|
Eh, so a global express and a piper Seneca are the same factor?
|
I would say so because both are NOT airline.
|
Maybe Embraer 145 Embraer Legacy would have been a better question as one is airline and the other is biz jet but effectively the same, although the Legacy is heavier.
|
i like to think they would apply some common sense evaluating past experience.
A flight instructor with 3000 hours of vfr instruction time in a seminole would have more factorized hours than a FO with the same time on a fast complex business jet operating all over the world... |
I think they are more refering to the kind of operations rather than the type.
|
Bizjet to wizzair
Hi
I referred to the table as non airline but with a mctow in excess of 20 tons. That is why a seneca would not fall under the same category. So i would be eligible for a direct entry captain position with my factorized hours? |
Any news from the guys attending the interviews in March and April?
Bases offered? |
Eh, so a global express and a piper Seneca are the same factor? |
Have they improved their T&C's? Or are they still paying pretty poorly ...
|
Senior first officer 25000 Euro and minimum 36 euro per short sector, Not to sure about captain salary.
There is talk of another pay rise but could be hear say. |
Best way mate is to put your trouser down and tell the chief pilot that you want to work hard for peanuts and that you can't wait for wearing a pink tie :ok:
|
Hi guys,
anyone has been called for the FO assessment? They called me for the 1st of june and I am looking for a partner to share some A320 sim to train for the assessment…. anyone out there? Cheers |
25000€ for SFO? And guys are paying to rent simulators for their interview?
Nuts nuts the flying world has gone nutz, err no, the pilots have. Wizz air - Swizz air |
As long as you accept being treated this way, you will not be treated differently.
|
Has anyone been invited to an interview recently? I applied last week for the Cadet none rated.
|
Afternoon gents
Not a cadet here, but a rather experienced TP guy, well over Wizz's min requirements bar A320/JOC. Can any of those who attended the infamous "orientation" course and had an interview thereafter spare some info on the expectations they have for the course itself? In other words has it been rumored that one course is better than another? Personally (speaking from experience) I think that no matter where you shop, when you have some turbine experience (i.e. KingAir/Metro/Cheyenne or similar) the course itself is a waste of money but I don't write the rules of engagement here. Looking up on the internet, you can spend anything from 750 GBP/2 days course to 2000/5days. Personally I know how much I would "invest", knowing that it is just another box ticked... Thanks for any (sensible) information... |
If you have hours on A320 they will consider you..but your other thread said you were 737 rated with no jet hours? Or do you have both type ratings with no hours on anything? In which case they will make you do A320 rating.
|
What base are you likely to get when you start? what the roster like? Do they bond you for the type rating?
|
papazulu i think they are just interested to see you JOC in your CV... i am going for the low cost (around 1000euros option) . Its a stupid requirement but as you said we don't make the rules
|
so if you fly 100 hours a month you have 3 months off per year :E
how much can an fo earn when flying 100 hours?? how quick can be the upgrade to LHS? |
papazulu i think they are just interested to see you JOC in your CV... i am going for the low cost (around 1000euros option) . Its a stupid requirement but as you said we don't make the rules Someone suggests an "internal referral" would be a nice thing to have... PZ :* |
Another one in Romania... well, good luck. Years ago they spoke about Ljubliana(Slovenia) or some other western bases. That never happened(if it would I would be glad to fly for them).
I never really considered Wizz because of their very "eastern orientated" base of operation. The only place I would go is Budapest, and that is so full that you never have a chance as newjoiner(and most likely as well never lateron). Good company for Hungarian pilots and everything east of that. A western european must be most likely very desperate to go there, based on things like salary, rent for a second home(room) and terrible proceeding home after your "on" days. Not speaking of a self sponsored A320 typerating. No thanks. |
Honestly, Wizz Air is not 2 bad after all.
Yes there are no western bases, however if you do not have any financial obligations at your home, like mortgage, or paying for your apartment etc. then moving to eastern europe, and receiving the salary that Wizz provides, will actully make you live like a "king". Maybe not in the first year as FO since you have to deduct the type rating if you do not have it yourself. After that it is acceptable, and then with another payrise on the horizon, it will only improve. Some of the eastern bases are actually pretty nice(we do also have Prague)... If you do not get your prefered base, then commuting might be a hazzle, but as in every airline, you have some negatives. Overall Wizz Air is a decent package, maybe not for the rest of your life, but for a good amount of time, that is for sure. |
No idea, the recruitment team changed about half a year ago or more...I guess you just have to keep updating the profile and hope for the best. They need pilots next year, so keep the head up :)
|
......gosh...if i read this i'm happy i refused the job offer. LZ-DOC, can i ask you for what monthly salary you have to cope with this bs.
And what do you mean with "planned extensions"? Is there no other job possibility for you in civilised Europe? Grtz |
when I was there I was netting around £2300
|
Tx Syntax for the eye opener. I refused their contract 2 years ago because it was crap. I was feeling ashamed if i would accept that. What i also noticed was that commuting was nearly impossible. Just because of the fact that they were not operating a daily flight to my home and back, so this would already give me a headache in how to reach my destination, which also means that i could not stay all off days at home.
If they are changing roster every week and calling you on Off days ( i am very allergic to the latter), it would consider Wizz as a no-go. Did you now find a better flying job then or did you quit flying? |
Nah, I was on a local contract. The time I joined we couldn't choose between contracts!
