Only for Lithuanian or Latvian passport holders!
Doesn't say it on the website though.. :8

AMS 12th Sep 2014 05:52

Yes it does state that - very clearly....

"

WHO: PILOTS WHO MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

All candidates must hold a Lithuanian or Latvian passport.

All pilots that have unrestricted right to live and work in the European Union and have a current and Valid JAR/EASA (or National equivalent) AIRLINE TRANSPORT PILOT'S LICENCE (or), COMMERCIAL PILOT'S LICENCE with a valid MPA-IR and passes in all ATPL subjects, and at least the minimum flying hours in the following table are welcome to join Wizz Air’s growing team.

My bad.. :}

Turbavykas 12th Sep 2014 10:54

Is 500 requirement for power driven aircraft or any aircraft? Can gliders be counted? Anyway they are certified GA aircraft... and 30 hours counts even for CPL requirements

Only for Lithuanian or Latvian passport holders!

It's nice to know, but is this allowed within the EU? I would have thought a more legal way of discriminating in this way would be to just stipulate the language requirement like the rest of continental Europe.

WHO: PILOTS WHO MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Speaking Latvian or Lithuanian will be an advantage

All pilots that have unrestricted right to live and work in the European Union and have a current and Valid JAR/EASA (or National equivalent) AIRLINE TRANSPORT PILOT'S LICENCE (or), COMMERCIAL PILOT'S LICENCE with a valid MPA-IR and passes in all ATPL subjects, and at least 1000 flying hours are welcome to join Wizz Air’s growing team
Minor changes... now U just need to have 1000hrs but not to be national anymore... but speaking Latvian or Lithuanian would be a great assest!

Holliwood 18th Sep 2014 09:55

Would you attend the roadshow as non latvian or lithuanian?

Lancelot_sf 22nd Sep 2014 18:38

Didn't they put this min 1000h requirement just now? Wasn't there before?!?
So nice for people with less hours that have already arranged their plane tickets for Riga...

imaximov 23rd Sep 2014 13:43

Actually they put it at the same time they removed the LT/LS Passport thing. So if someone had arranged tockets to there, they were actually arranging tickets back home :)

I am beginning to think that with the online applocation form they are just surveying the market. Now that they know that over the Baltic states there are quite a few pilots with experience they just rise the numbers.

P40Warhawk 23rd Sep 2014 13:58

And another Low Houred pilot job gone. Getting less and less chances to get a job anywhere :( .

First it was 200 hrs ACTUAL and JOC. Now 1000 hrs as min. Where should a beginner get those hrs if we never get any chance anywhere else?

b737air 23rd Sep 2014 15:59

And I believe will remain so... Unfortunately for us, low hour pilots. Wizz Air is planning to contract an ATO to train their own ab-initio pilots. Most probably will be a self-funded program. :ouch:

If you do not have more than 500 hours JAR 25 jet time or ME turbo-prop time, or more than 1000 hours MEP time, then you should apply for Cadet non type rated (regardless of other experience).
First it was 200H and now it is 500, for Cadet pilot non type-rated on A320.
1000H MEP is for experienced First Officer.

Alda 25th Sep 2014 23:40

Does anyone know the content of this open day and what to expect please?

b737air 26th Sep 2014 10:25

It will most probably be like it was in Bucharest. Company presentation to all participants (history, future prospects, bases, salary, min requirements etc) and thereafter all participants got a very short interview (your name and if you meet all minimum requirements). If you got all minimum requirements (they strictly follow their minimum req!!!) you were invited to complete a pilot data sheet and gave it back to them. If you didn't meet all min you were told to apply as soon as you got all min req completed and inform them via e-mail.

Alda 26th Sep 2014 10:42

Thanks for the info, so as I understand there are no technical MCQ about the ATPL ?

b737air 26th Sep 2014 10:53

Not at the Open Day. All they want is to prospect the market and to collect data sheets from suitable candidates. After a time they will decide if you will get an invitation for an interview in Budapest.

Bushpilot87 29th Sep 2014 11:23

open day

Quite confusing they keep changing the requirements… So for rated pilots (0hours) with 800 hours total there is no point going there?

LIAP 29th Sep 2014 11:39

Another question, guys.. in the minimum requirements for the open day, they wrote: "COMMERCIAL PILOT'S LICENCE with a valid MPA-IR and passes in all ATPL subjects, and at least 1000 flying hours are welcome to join Wizz Air’s growing team" I have a CPL with IR/ME (SP) with more than 1000 hrs total time and all other reqs... they want a MPA rating on the licence or is enough the basic ME/IR (SP)??

imaximov 29th Sep 2014 13:16

well I believe it is very clear written! CPL with MPA-IR. :hmm:

Hope this helps.
