Definitely go from Christchurch - it's much quicker. Takes no more than 15 minutes, may be 20 on a weekday morning. When I went for my Wings phase 2, I was picked up from near the station at 8:25am and was there just before 8:45am. Bournemouth is further away. A taxi from Christchurch station will set you back between 10 and 12 quid (taxis are a bit expensive down that way.)

SPIC/APIC or P1s

Hi
Having a moment of confusion of which Im probably thinking to deeply about.
Just finishing of the application form and where it refers to hours, there is a comment 'APIC.SPIC is counted as P1'. Then in the drop down menu it refers to P1/S? Firstly are these the same or am I missing a point.

is there any technical differences between P1/s and SPIC.

What is the current waiting time between application and phase 2?
Cheers for any advice

Phase 2

Guys I know this has been partially covered, but would like to know how long does each PILAP programme take and how many times you each of them.
Also comfirm that the maths test is multiple question ?
Any other advice would be appreciatted , I am not asking for the question but it would be nice to know so I can concentrate on delivering my best. Please Pm if you have recently taken phase 2. Thanks

The aptitude tests take about an hour or so. And essentially you have three attempts at each test. And yes, maths is multiguess.

Stage 4 - AQC

Hi all - am terrified of failing at the final hurdle! So just had a few questions to sate my curiosity.

a) Is the quoted failure rate of 10% more-or-less accurate?

b) How are you assessed? Is it a check-ride at the end.. or an assessment over each of the 9 sim sessions? Any 'ground'/theory exams?

c) I'm thinking that as long as you do the homework (learn SOPs, procedures, profiles, checks, calls etc) you should be fine - am I wrong?

d) is there any trend on the kind of thing that people fail on? (CRM, Instrument skills, situational awareness, just not putting the work in, attitude etc?)

Would also be interested in knowing the answer to c) and d)

Chocks as far as a) goes I do know that 2 out of 16 failed the last course and 1 out of 16 failed the previous one, so 10% would seem to be about right.

and for b) they do score every sim session, limited/slow/normal/good but I think the last assessment probably carries the most weight.

Holding Pool

I've heard that there have been some pilots getting their feet wet in the holding pool following the recent AQC. Can anyone confirm if there are people in the pool and how long are they likely to be there?

Holding Pool

I think my feet might be getting wet!
From what I can gather on the most recent AQC, those that were on the Airbus side (i.e. the course was split arbitrarily into two) have been taken up with Easy for a type rating in a few weeks whilst most of the Boeing lot are still waiting to hear what's going on.

Hmmmm... wonder if that's anything to do with Boeing operators Monarch and Thomsonfly running their own low-hours recruitment programs at the mo'.

How long does it normally take to hear back after you send the essay questions?

I sent mine a week ago and will be absolutely gutted if I don’t even make it to stage 2.

Friends who have done it say they heard back in a few days, i.e. 2!
