Thank you Ppruners
I'd like to echo what Screwballs has said. A big thank you to everyone who has contributed to this forum, and congratulations to those who made it through on the 16th.
Cheers,

14th of April
Did anyone get through from the 14th day? I have just found this site thanks to the advice given to me by a decent guy called Morgan. Hope you got through mate. And if anyone has any advice that they want to share about Stage 3/4 feel free to PM me One last thing, has anyone else noticed that the application site of the ctc website has "gone down". Does this mean that they have shut the selection process down due to too many applicants?

Had my stage 3 on the 15th, and got the thumbs down... very gutted, but learnt loads from my application, and am now working out the best way to get to that captaincy... down but not out :-)
Dan / Nick / Morgan - do keep in touch - I want to know when you get your first RHS on a public flight!!!
Well done everyone who's got to stage 4 - I hope to get there in about 6 months time if I'm allowed back.

Hard luck NW3, but I met Morgan on his first day at the center. Top bloke, and if he was part of the competitionthen hard luck. Only glad that now he's out of the way, its a bit easier. Good luck with the rest of your studies.

On that topic, I think one of the best things about the scheme is that you're not competing against the other, only yourself. The team point out that to get through all you have to do is reach the standards required - doesn't matter what the others on your day do, and whether they're a bunch of muppets or really nice people.
The reason I didn't get through was because I didn't get up to the standards in some of the areas - I can't just mope about saying I was unlucky with being up against really good people!
Tangentially - anyone got any ideas about the britannia scheme that seems to be on offer. Can't seem to find much in about it, but looks like another possible scheme (apart form the 15 grand though)

Hi guys
This is my first posting, so just a quick one for anyone who wants to help me out!! Im going for stage 2 shortly, and although this thread is v.helpful, i have a couple of questions. Im a PPL holder with about 90hrs, 30 of which were gained through the University Air Squadron, and im about to graduate with a Biology degree (completely irrelevant I know!). It probably sounds like a wierd Q, but it seems there are people who been rejected because of prior flying experience. Is this the case?
Secondly, for those who have done stage 2, how similar are they to the RAF aptitude tests (those who know). I passed the RAF tests, but only just, so I was just wandering if I would be ok!!
The scheme sounds like a right good crack. I spend last summer flying in the RAF's old Tristars and VC10s, but fancy something a bit newer such as a 737NG!!!
Cheers. Good luck to those who have their stage 2,3,4 etc coming up.

Yes as NW3 said you are not in a competition - if you fit the right profile then you should be sorted. So good luck!
OUAS, at my Stage 2 Rod said that there was a Russian test pilot who went for it and he had 10,000 hours or something like that. And then there's me with about 2 hours. I would say don't worry about the hours you have logged. Just be yourself and relax!

Some people.
On another point, is anyone in the pipeline for a stage 3 with an actual date? I was just wondering whether they were still holding days and were full up, or whether they were waiting for more stage 2 days to be processed.

Hey all !
Long time reader, first time poster!
This thread looks like it has gone a bit cold recently....does that mean that most of the Ppruners are being shipped off to NZ
I've passed stage 1 of my application, and I have my stage 2 on the 5th May. Any Ppruners going to be there?
I'm a little worried about the interview and group discussion, I know I have an excellent aptitude for flight, but I will probably screw up my chances by saying/doing something stupid.
So...any tips from you guys? I want/need as much info as possible to prepare...to dodge the stupid mistakes :/
Thanks in advance,
Matt

Hey Guys,
Well I guess I am the latest newcomer!
Hope all are well!!
Hey Mattd...I was going to attend the 2nd phase on the 5th May as well, but I got an email saying that it was cancelled due to unforseen circumstances. Anyway, I am booked for the 18th May.
As for me, I would not say that I am worried but I am definetly nervous about this 2nd stage. I have been trying for a long time to become a pilot. At one point, i had even started my PPL. Passed all CAA theory examinations but had to stop cause I could not afford the flying hours.
Anyway, I am giving this a shot!!
Maybe I will get to meet u there!!
Any more people invited for the 2 nd phase!

Hey Jeremy,
Yes, I got that email today
Bit of an annoyance, but never mind....hopefully I'll get the 18th May slot too!
Do you know why it was cancelled?

Anyone else going for a stage 3 day on the 13th of May? And also, do people have any recommendations for where to stay? Who treat you right, and weren't far away and were cheap?
Cheers

Caracul,
When I went through selection, I stayed at Dale Farm Guest House, it was about a 2 minute drive from Dibden Manor. Basically, you drive along the main dual carriage way towards Dibden, and take a right down a country lane just past the Dibden roundabout.
It's a nice cosy country house, with great cooked breakfasts, and reasonable at about £30 per night. Their web address is www.dalefarmhouse.co.uk, contact number is 023 8084 9632.
Hope this helps. I highly recommend it! Hope to see you in NZ soon, all the best.
Jonnys.

Hi WBV
Yep, I'm scheduled to go out on the 26th May!!! You on that course too?
Regarding where to stay, I took the easy option and just booked a Travel Lodge. Cheap and cheerful, but useful when you can't check in until around 2am!!
