Thanks for the reply. From where did you get the cadet form/application form?

I applied through the Ryanair website I created a profile, put my details, documents and then I applied for AFA cadet from the career page. Is that okay? I didn’t see any online form unless you are talking about the “my details” on AFA website

Has anyone got any experience of Ryanair accepting a cadet with a medical restriction - specifically an RXO (ophthalmology)?

As far as I know, if you hold EASA class 1 medical it’s enough for them

Depends on how experienced you are and if you're applying as experienced NTR Captain or FO.
What's your current type? Capt or FO? How many hours?

For direct entry non-type rated FO these are the OM(A) requirements.
-1500h TT
-1000h CS25
-500h CS25>20000Kg
-Current on CS25
With these you'd do a Transition Type Rating course. I don't think those are frequent as most courses conducted by Ryanair are full type ratings or short OCCs for 737 rated people.
Below those requirements you would just be treated as a cadet and your waiting times shouldn't be different than anyone else's.

Hi, I did my sim prep with them few weeks back. The preparation package which they send to you is really helpful and covers lots of stuff. Also the technical interview prep is helpful if you haven`t got lots of experience explaining technical matter especially in english.
The sim part is advantageous especially if you have long break of flying and haven`t seen a 737 cockpit before, as you get to rehearse the SIDs which you propably will get in the real assesment. Feel wise, the sim is pretty terrible I have to say, but if you manage to do the handling exercises in there on an acceptable level, you will have no problems in the simulator in the assesment as it flies much smoother and the feel is much better.
To conclude, it was a bit expensive in my mind, but then again, without it I doubt if I would have gotten the positive result so if the price does not bother you, I could recommend them.

Good luck!

Thanks for your answer!! I applied cause they ask for 700h total, and 500h on type for European bases now.
But I guess its as you said, for just a few, as for they is more practical the cadet programme.
thank you anyway!

Yeah, no matter how much experience you have, Ryanair is a very SOP heavy airline and they do things differently in areas where most of the other airlines operate identically. So many of the things that you're confortable with now (things that no other airline would even consider reviewing) they will be things that you may need to relearn. That's why even the highest experience OCC Captains are the ones who struggle the most and the ones who cause the most headaches to the training colleagues. Training in Ryanair is top notch. Going through the whole thing will make you a better pilot so don't feel bad about having to do a few extra sims and fixed base sessions. I can't imagine how hard it must be for someone to properly adapt to Ryanair's way of doing things when he joins with the bare minimum for Direct Entry FO and dodges a well needed full length course.

Hi Community,

RYR Assessment question - I am having to sit AON online tests and one of them is called WING CHALLANGE.

Does anyone know what doest it correspond to? would that be famous flying through the tube as you can practice on PilotAssessments website?

Many thanks

Yes, its the hand-eye coordination (tube flying) one on the pilotassessments.com website. I would also recommend you to complete their ATPL content, for me it was very helpful.

Good luck buddy! Been there as well.

Many thanks! All done and passed.

It was actually way easier than practice on pilotassessment.com!

Hi,

I have both experience with AFA (2021) and Upilot (2023).While initially I was negative with AFA as I didn’t like the behavior of Cpt. Adrian Carrie (pressure for more hours, which I needed them, but I didn’t like the way of pushing it), I would say it is a better solution.

Upilot is more relaxed environment. General flying techniques and how to treat the flight and the emergencies, they know little about Ryanair. Additionally, I would say that the sim instructor was just a pilot (experienced) while in AFA was an actual instructor.

Of course, you don’t need to know about RYR SOP’s in order to pass the assessment but for the time and the amount of money you spent, it is good to have an extra taste of Ryanair.

Don’t get me wrong, I failed while attending AFA, I passed while attending Upilot. Upilot has the potential to become a great center in the future.

The above is just my personal experience.

Holding pool

Is there any indication of the waiting period in the holding pool after successfully completing the online assessment? I've been in the pool for three weeks now, and I'm still waiting for further communication.
