When you register you are sent an email that outlines the whole process far better than anyone here is going to explain it. So for everyone asking about this and that, just register and it will all become clearer.
I just finished the tests myself. It's my first time ever doing these so i'm not sure how to gauge how well I did. If I had to pick my two weakest, I think I'd have to go with the Numeracy test and spatial reasoning test. I have a PPL so I was kicking myself that I wasnt happy with the spatial test. Been a while since Ive flown and I was a bit rusty.
For people who have done these tests before, how difficult would you say these Aer Lingus tests were in comparison to other or even previous Aer Lingus tests?
Does anyone have an idea of what happens now? Is this it until the interviews at the end of September if a candidate is successful at these aptitude tests?

Folks, I've been reading through the aerlingus website. Am I missing something? It doesn't specifically say that the flight training will be fully funded as it has been in previous years? Can anyone confirm?

They could probably save a lot of effort being more up-front about that now - a lot of people might drop out of the recruitment process if it turns out to be beyond their means.

Its strange that they wouldn't confirm it at the outset like previous years. I can't help but wonder if IAG has had something to say about fully funding cadetships. It doesn't happen at BA and certainly doesn't happen at Vueling. Pure speculation on my part however!

If you can afford an Airbus A320, why can't you afford 150k for the pilot to go with it? The answer is that you can, but you can cut costs because people are willing to pay to get into flying. So it must be hard for one airline to be the one that starts funding cadetships because presumably that makes you marginally less competitive against your peers. Unfortunate knock-on is that us lot have to be 'dedicated' and suck it up...

Is anyone else having problems accessing the applied numeracy test page? If I try to start the test in English it loads the pop up window with the counter dial, but counts to 101 and then stalls. I can get it to load in German, but my german is a bit too rusty to trust when speed is needed. Have tried the normal suggestions of reloading, and of quitting the browser and starting again, but to no avail.
Will speak to Are Lingus tomorrow, but wondered if anyone else was having the same problem before I do.
e2a: Having given up last night, I tried again this morning and it worked straight away, so if anyone else did have the same problem, then it is probably worth another try.

A Merchant Navy "Sponsoring Company" wouldn't charge you six figures to be a Deck/Engineering Officer, they'd pay you. Train Operating Companies have been known to experience hundreds of applicants per Driver's job, they don't charge you to be a Train Driver, again they pay you. Why should it be any different to become a First Officer for an airline?

Do you think they read our CVs? I ask because I will obtain CPL/IR/ME+MCC with ATPL theory this September with total of 200 FH and I mentioned it in CV and still received online assessment link.

Hoddington - I had the same problem with the Numerical test, try clearing your internet history, that made it work for me.
Chris the Robot - Thanks for your reply. I read about the expenses part and I assume the same thing as you do. However, I can think of one airline that makes you pay for a Type Rating but gives you a daily training allowance from day one.
You say the bar is/was very high. Makes you wonder what they are after! As for Aer Lingus, its fourth time lucky.

Got my assessments and attempted to complete some of them yesterday, the Spatial Orientation was my Achilles heel. I do have to admit that years of computer gaming experience did help with a few of the assessments haha!

That was quite a set of assessments!
Verbal reasoning I found very tough - if anybody got through all the questions they should really deserve to be instantly be accepted into the programme!
Really enjoyed the reactivity, multitasking and numerical reasoning rounds. Complex control was basically a very familiar game!

Assessment Tests
Hey Guys, received my assessment package... Currently in a hotel 'downroute' (work for an airline as CC) I only have a MacBook and no mouse, I land back to the uk tomorrow... Is it fine to run on a MacBook first of all? And are there any assessments I can do without a mouse first so that I'm not trying to complete the whole thing tomorrow Jet lagged to hell but with a mouse! Wish I'd received info a day early and could have packed my mouse!

Firstly, I did the tests on a macbook air - no problems at all.
I did most of it using my laptop's touchpad to be honest. The only part I really felt I needed my mouse was the 'hand-eye coordination' test, but even then it probably would have been fine using the touchpad.
You can definitely do the 2 behavioural questionnaires, the verbal and numerical reasoning, and spatial orientation with the touchpad no problem at all, and those will take up most of the 2 hours anyway!

Really enjoyed going through most of them.

Eager to see what comes next, whether an invitation or a rejection.
