Work in the US ?

How is the market i the US right now compared to Europe? I have a job in Europe (private jet operator) but are thinking of moving to the west coast in the US. I have FAA license and the right to work in US. Whats the salaries and conditions to work for an airline or a corporate job??? schedule etc??

Terrible, but airline hiring might pick up next year. The majors are recalling, hiring plans in the works at DL, AA. Corporate market has jobs, but one needs good connections to learn of them. Regionals are hiring, but not much to recommend there.

Southern California bizjet job prospects are still near a 20 year low. I'm ready to move East of the Mississippi , where things seem to actually be picking back up just a little. Overall, the USA bizjet job market looks to remain stagnant for some time to come.

Hi learrock,

Do you have the job in Europe on your JAA licences or FAA licences?

Can you take those hours on your FAA licences? Otherwhise you wouldn't be attractive for US carriers..

Usual guy, the law has been passed but doesn't go into effect until August 2013.

thank you, 2013, when in 2013? 1 st january 2013. they have another year to recuit?.

I think the regional airlines are now screwed big time by their congress.
this is why American Eagle and others are recruiting hundred of pilots...after this, the pond will be empty and good luck to them to attract +1500h pilot with US citizenship or green card.

who want do a pilot training at 100'000$, work 3-4 years as a FI in the States at 1000$/month(if lucky), and finish at 20$/hours in a regional and not making any money for another 5 years until next crisis?

only insane people will go for training.

Usualguy, it will be August of 2013. Also, I'm so glad that you are sympathetic with the regional airlines. If the pool of candidates dries up (which I don't think it really will, especially since the universities with aviation programs are lobbying for reduced mins), it can only be good for pilots. The regionals will have to increase pilot pay and Ts & Cs to attract candidates, and maybe even shift some regional flying back to mainline where it belongs. Heck, maybe if the flying schools can't find instructors, maybe they will have to increase instructor pay.

And $100,000??? I paid $35,000 for my FAA ratings, and All ATPs program will run you around $54,000 with housing included and I think they are a little pricey. Only guys going to places like Embry Riddle are paying six figures.
