i have a question about the 500TT needed for FO application..
without wanting to call them and annoy them by asking
i have 465 flight hours and 40 in sim (20 FNPT and 25 Tristar-L1011) meaning my total time counting these is 500+ so CAN i apply or is it min 500 hours FLIGHT TIME

bmi regional
For all of you, who like me had applied to bmi regional in Feb for a F/O on EMB145.
Following an email sent by me today to John Bell, he replied to say, "We have completed all interviews and sim assessments. The first course of pilots is well under way. As I have received more than 1500 applications it is impossible to confirm receipt of any individuals. However the applications I do have will be kept on file for future recruitment."
This may be common knowledge now, but it was news to me.
Cheers

This also is news to me. Well under way seems strange to me, since the man has been away for a while...
Well, too bad, that's another rejection then, keep 'em coming, I still have room available for that 1 letter that says 'we want YOU'

I remember sending in the form a few months back..it was a Thursday afternoon when I sent it.....I got the rejection letter the following Monday morning!
Wow at their efficiency...especially since Captain Bell and I had a lengthy conversation about my experience..etc..and that I was "just" the type of candidate they were looking for
Another one added to the pile!

JB is frankly a bit of a pain in the arse. He said very little during my interview except to say (similar to haughtney1) that I was exactly what they were looking for in respect of a DE Command position, and then the following morning I got a call (not from him) saying that I wasn't successful. I subsequently found out that the secret to getting on JB's good side is to be totally subservient, make him feel that he can control you. DE Command candidates are therefore in a difficult position, how the hell does one display the relevant Command characteristics whilst being subservient at the same time?
Bitter? of course I am. Being told face to face that I'm exactly what they're looking for and then being rejected is extremely frustrating. 1500 applications??? Self-importance springs to mind!!!

Rafat,
I don't think your in the positon to comment on JB personality!
Not only is it totally irrelevant to your application, but you made that comment on a "Professional Pilots Rumour Network", so start acting like a professional and stop being (as you rightly say) so bitter!

That's exactly the reason behind my anger and frustration - in my opinion I displayed total professionalism, but was treated totally unprofessionally in return. Whilst this treatment of candidates is common throughout the industry, and is expected, I was led down the garden path, and because of that I'm annoyed. Furthermore, for your information, I didn't actually apply!

Wrong.
Decisions are made within an hour during interview. That's all you get to go on FROM BOTH SIDES.
If JB thinks that you fall short then you can equally think that he falls short.
Interviewers are chosen to front and make the Airline appealing to the new recruit. First impressions from both sides count.
There must be harmony.

bmi regional- Interview
Hi all
Having almost given up hope, I've just been invited for an interview with bmi regional at ABZ. Any advice from previous interview'ees would be gratefully appreciated.
Many thanks in anticipation

2 mates went for interview with BMI regional last year. 1 got in and the other did not.
The one who got in said it was a fair and decent interview and the one who did not said it was a day from hell. From this I would assume that if the face fits then you are on your way. Lets face it, you all answered the same online application so you all have the same grades. Whats makes you different?
If you are interviewed by Capt JB, and at the interview, when he asks if you have any questions, ask him this...
"In your opinion Capt. JB, what are the implications for road cycling after Lance Armstrongs retirement this year at the end of the Tour de France?"
Just do it and you might get the job.
Remember, interviewers hire in their own mould and people who have similiar interests to them are already in front of the rest!
Good luck.
