BMI Regional/Embraer fleet/Recruitment
Has anybody information regarding BMI Reginal recruitment process?
Do you know if it has been completed for this season, or are they still processing applications? Any information will be greatly appreciated! |
Have taken on type rated souls only in recent months.
|
Heard from the horses mouth (Training Captain) that no recruitment is taking place until Jan Feb.
A few Non UK type rated guys taken on recently. Information provided of course with the usual caveat that things are always under review. |
BMI Regional Interview
Has anyone had a call for interview with BMI Regional?
If any one has any information about the interview or sim ride i would be very grateful. |
Are they still looking? I thought they had filled their boots recently with the Oxford people and some experienced hires??

‘’I thought they had filled their boots recently with the Oxford people and some experienced hires??’’
Not true at all. Whenever a hint of recruitment is sensed, the only answer that seems to come up here is Oxford grad’s and the likes will steal the jobs. I am neither of them and had a call 4 weeks ago. Post only if you know for sure what the deal is. |
Sorry to contradict, GTM, but I do know that a) they have very recently taken on quite a few Oxford cadets, (they were overmanned with more experiened FOs), and b) supposedly, they will not be hiring experienced pilots, other than type rated on an as needed basis to make up for staff leaving.
Did you get your job, and what's your own background? |
Anyone have an address to send CV's? Cheeky of me to ask, I know!:D
|
GTM - it is pretty widely known that BMR took some people on recently and also where they came from.

bmi regional recruitment
Just had a dear john letter from John Bell at BMI regional following my application to them recently.
I have 2500 hours 150 multi all light aircraft - mostly instructing. My application has been rejected outright, not even "kept on file for future consideration". I met their min requirements - What the hell are they after ?! Anybody know what their story is recruitment wise, and has anybody else had similar experience ? I'm pretty peeved... |
keep Smiling
I have 2700 hrs 2400 me 1800 turbine/efis/ multi crew and 500 jet still got a no thanks. must be getting too old |
Why don't you give John Bell a call, he is one of the only chief pilots you can call up and chat to, I found him polite and very helpful when I've ever given him a call, and in and industry were you can't even get through to the secretary of the PA of the chief pilot, he in a pleasant exception to the rule.
|
Gossip it is...
John Bell is not the Chief Pilot. He is the Technical Pilot with the added role of recruitment, but Bill Hanton really pulls the strings, I suspect. We have recently taken on a mix of OATs and more experienced FOs, but the present management think that low timers are likely to stay longer. Possibly. Maybe. Maybe not. A hint. The most important factor in bmir hiring seems to be the ability to start immediately there is a requirement. i.e., no 3 months notice. (Heard said by the Head of Training.) The assumption is that if you have a licence and all the required boxes are ticked, you can fly or can be taught to fly. LOST. |
I dont think these low timers will at all be more loyal, probably more likely to move on asap
|
Move on to where exactly? Getting one job is hard enough from what i can tell! You talk as if we're all Hight Street Bank workers. I would hope that given the break, a new pilot would be grateful for the opportunity.
|
TOM,
Sorry mate, seen it over and over again. New intake of 200hr people. Resign almost the same day as their bonds are over. Even as my company operate both TP's and Jets, they want to move onto a jet quicker, even if it means jumping ship |
Sorry for being lazy, but I can't find it on the flybmi web site... what are their minimum requirements?
|
It does puzzle me that so many, including myself are struggling to achive the envious position of being up front in an airliner and as previously mentioned some leave as soon as their debts are paid to go somewhere else. Many here I'm sure would be grateful fo rthe break to get A JOB!!
Regards |
Yes but once the rose tinted specs have descended and you have been polling around one type for a while the eyes start wondering. Always something heavier, faster or better money......
Just life I guess!! |
