FTE Assessment
Hi,
Im currently in my final year of university due to finish in June. Iv got my FTE assessment next thursday and was wondering if anyone knows what its like?
Iv got a fair idea of what to expect just wanted to see if others could shed a little light on it?

hi Rob,
i attended the FTE assesment last September and im planning on going there this septmeber.
basically, on the first day i was given a tour of the campus (which lasted about 45mins) and then left to do as i wanted for the rest of the day, so you can use any of the facilities or go into Jerez if you want to.
on the second day the assesment lasts from about 9:30 in the morning until about 1:00 and you start by completing three computer based tests which test your hand eye coordination ( i did pretty badly in the first test but was still accepted because i did well in other aspects of the selection, so dont worry if you mess up some of them). after this i did a numeracy, numerical and verbal reasoning test, which were sort of a higher tier GCSE standard and this was then followed by an interview with the Head of Training which lasted about 45 mins i guess, which basically tests if u have the right motivation to complete the course and during the interview i was given an airline operations problem to solve about which aircraft and crew to use when an aircraft goes technical, there is no right or wrong answer really.
that was the end of the selection and then i immediately had a debrief from the Managing Director who told me that i had passed the selection, so u find out straight away whether you passed or not, (about 60-80% pass it)
after that you are free to leave, i had my flight back to Stansted the next morning so i relaxed for the rest of the day.

Just one other question, what sort of questions come up in the numeracy tests etc? The last verbal reasoning tests i did were for my 11+ and that was a few years ago now!

Hi Rob
To be honest, i cant remember any of the questions exactly because i did it 4 months ago, but i remember thinking that many of the numerical ones were similar to the questions that were in the practice book they sent me, (i assume they sent you it as well). The verbal reasoning (sort of a comprehension) and the numerical tests (like GSCE physics questions related to aeroplanes) were ok but i wouldn't descibe them as easy (i got 60% in both which i think is very average) and the numeracy (basic maths test) was much easier, (i got 90% which again was about average). I'm only 18 in February so you might find them a lot easier being older than me. But i wouldnt worry about anything at all, i found it easier than i expected it to be. There are no group exercises or anything, and u'll probs be the only one doing the selection on the day. I would say the hardest part for me was the computer hand eye coordination tests, but i guess it depends on your ability.
Just see it as a bit of a holiday and definately if your doing a degree i'm sure u'll find the questions will be fine.
