Scroggs

My post says that I am delighted with the news. All that I am saying is a list of adjectives, verbs and adverbs all saying congratulations in one way or another is a waste of band width. Scrolling down each post to just to read "congrats", "well done" etc I found boring I'm sorry. Its like being at a wedding party when the best man stands up and reads out the congrats telegrams, it just makes you want to fall asleep.

Congratulations!

Thank you very much for your post, which I'm sure is appreciated by the 99.99999999% of wannabees who will take great hope from your positive experience, demonstrated so by those congratulating you. Sadly, humbug-smith considers these as wasting his time. Perhaps he should ask scroggs for his own forum titled "Things solely and exclusively benefiting smith's flying career", and have someone employed to proof-read all postings, to ensure they don't disappoint him.

Be sure to update us now and again with how the flying is going. Enjoy!

Congratulations!

(that one was for you, smith)

Dude,

I did, but my post wasn't to chastise smith for not congratulating Al (indeed, as he mentioned in his original post he was "delighted and encouraged", so no congratulations were necessary unless he really wanted to). My problem (and that of the others posting here) with smith was that he doesn't consider our congratulating of Al as meaningful, something which I'm sure Al himself would disagree with, as he is now in a position of being congratulated instead of being the one congratulating. When that time comes for me I will really appreciate any congratulations coming my way and certainly consider them as meaningful.

I'd also like to add that threads like this have existed for years, they are part of pprune tradition, and offer evidence to all future wannabees that dreams do happen. Ironically, smith has previously used pprune to congratulate individuals himself, so I'm sure that he is in fact a nice guy and, given the chance, I imagine he would rather not have made his previous comments which have portrayed him in a very poor light.

Congrats Al!
It's great news in my ears as I'm a fATPL/CPL with low hours.
I'm also interested in an airline that flies the Dash 8. It'd be nice to hear your comments on the type rating!
keep us posted!

I am a nice guy really, just that when I opened the post I was really delighted and saw, that at that time, there were 6 replies and I was looking forward to some good factual information about type ratings, other job openings etc .

As I say, I was just disappointed when it did not live up to this. Sorry, I must have got out the wrong side of the bed that day. Original poster, sorry if I rained on your parade. I am actually more than delighted for you and hope all goes well, keep us updated.

smith,

You're man enough to admit you were having a bad day so all is forgiven and forgotten.

I'm sure everybody has experienced frustration concerning postings. Part of the problem is that with only a few words in the title with which to describe what lies within, many people naturally struggle to achieve this adequately meaning that some titles leave you without a clue what the post will be about, whilst others suck you in with an interesting title when in fact the content does not live up to its promise. That's the beauty of pprune; it is like a treasure hunt - some days you come away with nothing, but on others you strike gold and that is what makes it so enjoyable and bloody addictive.

Well done.

You'll love it. Good training, if quite intense. F/Os a mixture of low hours and some more experienced. Training captains have a wealth of experience, line captains all a pleasure to fly with and more flying stories than you can imagine. Ex RAF and airline experience from Herc to Lightnings and Concorde pilots.

New a/c coming in new year, 15 new pilots on courses Dec, Jan and Feb, maybe more.

There are four lady pilots, and everyone gets on with each other.

Lots of sectors and varied flying. A late Gatwick is seven (7) sectors. Plymoth Airport short narrow up hill 3.5% ILS, tricky in a cross wind, Newquay military R/T open airspace, then Gatwick busy very proceedural. As I said you'll love it.

See you in Plymouth ops soon.

Flyhalf2.

All the best for the new job. Word of advice, keep your eyes open wide whilst flying.... You're operating out of an airport that is lacking in acceptable/quality atc service.

Well done Caterina!!

Just make sure not to announce that it is time for everybody to jump out, over the p.a. - old habits and all that.
