Good news!
Recently found out that I'm starting with Air Southwest on the Dash 8 next February - many thanks to everyone who's given me advice along the way!
To answer the inevitable questions I'm 23 and finished full time modular training in February 2005. I've been parachute dropping and air taxi flying since then and have 720hrs, 240hrs multi.
Keep flying, stay positive and it will happen!

Although I am delighted and encouraged by this post, when I saw there were 7 replies I thought there might be some good info in there about job prospects etc, however all there was was a string of "well done's" and "congratulations" etc. I derived no useful information from any of these posts and this is what these forums are for.
So moderators, as I say, can we keep the congrats posts off of the pages unless you have something else meaningful to add. I am delighted for the poster myself but was a bit dissapointed in the thread after a fantastic opening.

... ...WHATEVER..COngrAts to ya ATP-Al. I have seen so many boring and sad posts from people who complain they cannot get a job. Finally, the winds have turned. Always nice to read posts like these.

Smith,
You miserable sod, glean whatever information you can,
1. Someone is starting now with ASW
2. Someone has gone through the hoops yesterday
At least you can see movement in the company, if you do not like it just click on the back button instead of wasting further bandwidth, or complain to Scroggs via PM, before you do though, look up a few posts.

As far as I'm concerned, it is bloody good news (which is the title of this thread) when someone from outside the integrated/CTC world gets a good job, and it is encouragement for all the others who are busting a gut to get there.
Go and grouch somewhere else, we're celebrating Al's good fortune here.

Well done Al and good luck with the job.
Quite, theres way too much doom and gloom on the wannabe forums. And yes I'm a CPL/ME-IR guy without a flying job but one day soon IT WILL HAPPEN!!!
My wife calls it ' the depressed pilot site' - a bit harsh maybe

Don't bother looking for useful info Smith, nobody's going to want a sad glum git sat next to them all day. Hence little chance of a job no matter how well informed!
Well done the original poster who not only got a job but also kept current and busy.

Cheers guys! I have always been frustrated with the amount of negative feeling on PPrune when there really is a lot people in our position can do to improve our chances. Therefore whenever anything positive happens to me, I try my best to tell others what I've done and how I did it. When I was training I always found threads like this encouraging, so I'm only doing the same.
