Spit my impression is that it will be used to help wannabes take their first steps into aviation by offering interest free loans.

I know there has been much debate about what it will be used for but I think the generalopinion and the correct one is that it is a help and not a freebie.

Also there was talk of a Buddy system being set up so that wannabes had a direct port of call if they needed personal help and advise.

Correct me if I am wrong IFR <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

Any news yet on the flight bag stickers that were discussed some time ago? The pins are fine, but most (a lot) of airlines prohibit you from wearing things on your uniform. Not wishing to unecessarily cause trouble, a Ppruning sticker on my flight bag would go down very well.

And.....

From a Wannabe's point of view - a buddy system seems like a great idea! There are so many choices its hard to know where to start, and word of mouth seems to work well for me...

Not such a bad idea at all.

IFR. Thank You for mailing PPRuNe badges to me in Spain. I received them when I got back from a contract.

Cheers

So if it does "go up there, in flashing lights", how about an easy link to set up a regular direct debit? Call it a voluntary subscription, if you like.
Now it doesn't have to be off putting when you think of the potential numbers involved.
42,000 members of which perhaps(BIG GUESS)50% are U.K., and say(EVEN BIGGER GUESS) 20% are willing to sign up. Then according to my questionable assumptions, a meagre £1 A MONTH would add
£4,200 A MONTH!!!!
Maybe i've over/under guessed, whatever, the sum of £1 a month isn't going to be missed by anyone, and if successful would give the PPRuNE Fund considerable clout.

schuler_tuned.

Nice thoughts. I regret to say that it will never happen. However, we have TWO regulars who place money in the PPRuNe Fund bank account every month. These will shortly be joined by another, and I also have the occasional donation come in. ALL........are gratefully received.

I can give you, or anyone, the account details if you wish to join in a monthly donation. No matter how big or how small, it is needed and very humble I am too. Just e-mail me.

Thanks,

IFR

IFR,

As soon as I get a job flying I will set up a direct debit for the fund.

That's a promise.

Hi IFR,
I've been out on leave for a while so no access to a PC or pprune. Glad to hear the fund is growing.

I have no idea what the fund is to be used for but have a proposal for donation if appropriate.

The guys running the AOT course at coventry.

Anyone whos not aware, they are running a course introducing wannabes to the world of airline interview procedures from start to finish pretty much.

There are all highly experienced/senior peeps in their respective companys and they have obviously put a hell of a lot of time and effort into the preparation and presentation of the course, not to mention giving up their entire weekends to help others.

They do not charge excessively for this course and it would be a major shame if it was not to continued for whatever reason, whether it be financial or otherwise.

ps. I have no personal involvment in AOT. I just believe they are doing a sterling job and will happily put my money where my mouth is by donating my lunch/dinner money to the fund.

IFR, please do send the account details, as i'm quite happy to put my money where my often over exubriant mouth is!
Now not wanting to put personalised iconic noses out of joint, and in light of a voluntary sub's scheme being a non-starter, how about a standardised colour one for regular donators?
Maybe something along the lines of a blue inscription such as "PPrUNE SUPPORTER"?
And no, you cynical lot, i don't just want one on the cheap!! Although it might just add enough kudos to persuade others to make the same kind of appriecative jesture for what is undoubtedly the inter-webs finest aviation site!
I shall say no more.
(Except, £1 a month has got to be better than being "just another number",surely........?)

What about running it on the basis of a "prize draw".

£1 per ticket - accumulated funds used at end of year to purchase one integrated course at OATS (or wherever)?????

Only a thought - I'd do a fiver a month.
