PRIVATAIR Recruiting: Any tips on their selection process?
Hello boys and girls!
How are you all today?
The market is picking up...less than 300hrs and yes...after 2 years...a first interview to come?
Would anybody know anything about PRIVATAIR SA's selection process? Maybe one of you has a body working for them?
Any tips for a first time interview ever for a F/O position?

Privatair is a tough one. Majority of pilots come out of BA with a serious amount of hours. Chief pilot is a brit who has the reputation of being real hard on interviews.
What F/O position are you going for? BBJ?

Piratair selection used to be through Parc Aviation DUB. A full day talking to a shrink, reviewing your CV, answering questions and so on and finally a 737 sim session. Nothing unusual. If successful, you were invited for further interviews in GVA with the Chief Pilot and a Captain in charge of Pilot selection. The whole process from application to final contract offer could last several months or even years depending on their needs. Not sure of the actual process now. They went through a lot of changes in the past years.
I don't want to comment on the company, I want to remain politically correct, all I can say is that the current "Chief Pilot", former CX Capt. is a real pain in the neck. Good luck.

It's good to know who you deal with.
I guess if the guy is tough he will be with everybody. Privatair has seen my CV and they know I barely have 300hrs. I'm gonna prepare as best as I can psychologically (seems important) and technically. A good thing I have my IR renewal all arranged for next week. My MEP (IR) expires mid August! Since I'll renew it with my original training school I'll try to get an hour in the sim used for their MCC and JOC Course!
Busy days ahead or should I say busier days!Already done 101 Block hours in July (cabin crew in the meantime!) of which 95hrs duty time in 2 consecutive weeks! Guess I'll have to think about getting good night sleeps!
In Paris, soon I'll pay a visit to their Paris offices at Le Bourget Airport to find and gather some info!
The e-mail I received does not specify for which A/C type they are recruiting!
I'll keep you informed if interesred!

Don't want to scare you okea but are you sure they are going to interview you for a F/O job and not cabin crew?
I know we all have to start flying one day but 300 total hours seems very far from their minnimum requirements..
I really hope I am mistaking but you might wanna make sure.

I'm quite surprised they are calling unexperienced pilots for interview. The reason is maybe because these guys will probably stay there for a few years, and not leave after a few months due to the every day decreasing working conditions. Anyway with your experience, go for it and take whatever you can, it will be a good experience. The people who'll be interviewing you are very fair and the people working for this company are great. They managed to hire pilots with solid backgrounds (SN,SR,SAS,CX etc)in the past few years but these times are now probably over.

I know, I could not believe it myself! I thought they might have read an extra 0 at the end or that they might be contacting me for a cabin crew position. But, it seems they are negotiating new contracts for a big expansion and if it works they will need pilots. Would they need a 2000hr jet rated pilot to fly a King 1900?
The message I received did not mention the aircraft type, but they don't only operate BBJ and A319LR!
I've always been taught to be optimistic and to do my best. And I quite like the idea of starting on turbo prop and move up.

As they say in a french advertisement for the lottery...100% of the winners attempted it...if you don't play, you're only 100% sure you will loose. As for the ones who play, there is always a chance! Remember, be there at the right time (luck). I believe flying skills are important but we 've all been tested and earned that piece of paper. At this stage it's also you're attitude that will make a difference. I agree, even a 300hr ab initio trained pilot does not have the experience of a 3000hrs pilot. But if you think longterm, it could be a good investment.
But hey...not there yet, although I'll keep dreaming and preparing for the big day!

You may want to remember that Privatair B757 Cpt Francisco Agullo was the one who initiated the renovation and ferry to Switzerland of one of the last airworthy Super Constellations in the world. He also is the President of the SCFA (Super Constellatioin Flyers Association).

For your info, the chief pilot has just resigned, he leaves at the end of the month...
I know selections are being held at the moment, and they are looking for both Boeing and Airbus type-rated pilots (current). Initial interview held in GVA followed by Sim & psy test in BSL...

Indeed very interesting. I remember a discussion earlier this year about hiring low hour pilots as other airlines do since years. Maybe that's why they have sent you an invitation for interview ?

Starting from Jan' 15th, Privatair will fly for Swiss (under its flight code LX but on an ACMI base) a wet-leased 56-seats BBJ 6 times a week between Zurich and Newark.

So what is the latest on Privatair ? Anyone knows something about T&Cs, rosters and the possibility to commute to and from work ?
Particularly interested in the 757 and BBJ positions (although the website doesn't mention any recruitment on the 75).
